🛷 Shitamachi Bobsleigh: Ota City's Challenge #218

✍️📜 For a long time, 
we have mainly written about the past, 
recording memories and ancient traces. 

📖 Since 2011,
the “Shitamachi Bobsleigh” project
has become a vivid page
of contemporary industrial history.
It was born
in the backstreet workshops
of Ota City, Tokyo,
and embodies the passion and craftsmanship
of local artisans. 🏭

⭐ Toward the First Olympic Journey

Praised as “F1 on Ice”, 
the bobsleigh project is aiming 
for its first Olympic appearance 
at the 2026 Winter Games 
in Milan–Cortina, Italy. 🇮🇹❄️ 

The local team continues to develop the sleds, 
⚡ swiftly responding to athletes’ needs,
and has achieved an 18kg weight reduction so far.

🔧 Open and Agile Manufacturing

Backstreet workshops collaborate 
to rapidly produce prototypes 
and make adjustments directly on‐site. 

🌍 A Project Reaching the World 

Despite limited domestic attention, 
the project has gained traction overseas, 
blossoming through resilience and ingenuity. 

🏫 Schools and 👨‍🔧 international engineers
have also joined this open‐style collaboration.

🤝 The Passion of 163 Companies

A total of 163 companies and organizations 
have come together to support the development of the sleds. 

💰 All expenses are self‐funded, 

driven by a shared love for innovation and the Olympic dream.
