Explanatory Poem
I couldn't bring myself to take down the wind chime you installed, so it plays its sound every day of the year whenever I open the window.

That sound is always there, nestling close to me.
As if to comfort me when I am sad.
As if to laugh out loud with me when I am happy.
As if to pout when I am angry.
And when I am lonely, it rings as if to say that it's okay anyway.
The 13th summer since you passed away has arrived.
For some reason, I tried taking that wind chime down for the first time.
I wondered if there was a place where the wind chime would ring with your voice.
I suppose I just wanted to get closer to you through the wind chime.
I tried looking for a few spots, but
I couldn't find a better place than the one you chose.
Since you lived your life so carefully, I bet you considered dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of places, didn't you?
Even though I knew that would happen
I became very sad.
And I became a little scared.
Because I thought I might not be able to return the wind chime to that perfect place of yours.
But you had even anticipated that action of mine, hadn't you?
Right next to where the wind chime used to be, you had stuck on a star sticker, like a first-magnitude star floating in the night sky.

I hung the wind chime back up there so that my tears wouldn't spill over.
But the tears that overflowed helplessly
ran down my cheeks as the warmest tears in the world, like shooting stars flowing over the secret hill that only the two of us know.
