Please laugh at me for still being overprotective of my adult daughter
My daughter called me yesterday morning.
She is a college student living alone and currently job hunting.
Since we usually communicate via LINE or email,
a phone call means it's either an emergency or something to be concerned about.
Moreover, since my daughter is a late sleeper, a call early in the morning made me even more nervous.
"Hello?" my daughter said.
From her first words, I can tell if it's "good news" or "bad news."
Thinking, "It's bad news," while pretending to be calm
(though my heart was actually pounding),
I asked, "What is it? What's wrong?"
"When I woke up this morning, both my eyes were bloodshot, there's eye discharge, and it hurts.
Why do you think that is?" my daughter asked.
(Oh, is that all?)
I felt a little relieved.
It's probably hay fever.
"I have my hay fever eye drops, should I send them to you?"
"Hay fever, huh? Then it's fine, I'll manage somehow," she said, and the call ended.
But, it's not fine!
Once I've heard about it, I can't just leave it alone!
Even though she knows what my personality is like.
I am what you might call overprotective.
I am the same as kojuro-san.
It seems both kojuro-san and his wife are 'overprotective Kahoko' to their daughter.
Found a fellow member!
kojuro-san is a wonderful noter who practices various tips for living a fun daily life with his wife and family from interesting perspectives.
His overprotective nature was also casually written about in this article.
And so, in order to complete my mission just like kojuro-san,
I immediately sent eye drops and various other things via same-day courier service.
I am always indebted to Kuroneko-san.
It should have arrived this morning.
A parent's love for their child is the same! kojuro-san!
From here on, I will try writing about the reasons why I became overprotective.
Sometimes people say that being overprotective is bad, or that you can't let go of your child or that your child can't let go of you.
Actually, my mother, who is over 80, is still overprotective of me, even though I am in my 50s.
If I say I have a slight cold, she sends me herbal medicine, and the package always contains various other things that seem good for my health.
Once, when I said, 'Mom, you don't need to worry about me forever,'she said,
(I'm at an age where I should be worrying about myself)
'I can only worry about you while I'm alive, so let me do it while I can. Once I'm dead, I won't be able to even if I want to,'she told me.
When I told my mother that my younger daughter is much more spoiled than my older daughter and that I'm worried about her,
'The younger child spends less time with their parents than the older one, so you should just spoil her that much more,'she told me.
(Of course, I am just as overprotective of my older daughter as well 😆)
I have lived my life listening to my mother's words at various times.
Perhaps the overprotectiveness I show my children is inherited from my mother.
I think being overprotective is fine as long as it doesn't make the person doing it or the person receiving it feel bad or burdened. (Is that just self-satisfaction?)
Because, obviously, you can only do things while you are still able to do them.
I would be happy if you could laugh and forgive me for being such an overprotective person.
Thank you for listening to my feelings.
Last week's article
"Graduation ceremonies are important days not just for the children, but for parents and families too"
I received some happy news.
It is all thanks to the many 'likes' from everyone.
Thank you so much!

Thank you for staying with me until the end.
I look forward to your continued support.
