around 1977 in the first edition copy on the bookshelf of a classmate in the Meiji University Faculty of Letters (who became my wife in May 1978),
I remember thinking even then, is the female name "Edith" actually Edith?
Why isn't it written as "I-di-su"?
I still remember that.
It's been about forty-five years now, hasn't it.
