Rules for Elegant yet Approachable Fashion ①

Driven by that thought, Ossun-sama received a total fashion diagnosis from a science-minded fashion advisor. What kind of clothes suit her, who is as warm as a café au lait?

In this article, I will explain fashion that is elegant but still approachable.

Collecting outfits that suit you

As I introduced previously, in my fashion diagnosis, I ① collect outfits that suit you, ② look for commonalities, and ③ analyze them by category: color, pattern, shape, and material

The colors that suit Ossun-san, according to the color diagnosis, were warm beige like café au lait, egg yellow, pastel yellow-green, and so on. Upon analysis, what suits her is elegant fashion reminiscent of royalty.

All of these exude elegance, yet they are neither cold nor unapproachable. They are elegant and approachable(not unapproachable) outfits.

I will explain the details of this.

Pale colors that create elegance

The colors that suit Ossun-san, and which I want her to use over a wide range, are pale colors.

- Colors that are far from primary colors and are not vivid
- Colors that look whitish when photocopied in black and white

When comparing pale colors (pale pink) with vivid colors (red), pale colors suit her overwhelmingly better. I define "matching the impression of the face with the image of the clothes = suiting you."

Pale colors. Being far from primary colors, and in terms of painting, having an extremely small amount of pigment, creates elegance. In any case, making pale colors the main focus is important for elegant fashion. A red knit is also lovely, but it erases the elegance of Ossun-san's face.

In the fashion diagnosis, I also propose recommended color ratios. For example, for Ossun-san, it would be this ratio.

What are elegant patterns?

What creates a noble impression, a grace similar to that of royalty, is a "small pattern that is subtle yet clearly present."

As I wrote in the explanation of royal fashion, patterns that are subtle, small, and regular are what create elegance. For example, patterns like these.

Formal attire of the Imperial Family

These are patterns called "woven patterns" (origara). The pattern is embedded within the fabric. It is a design or pattern created while spinning the thread during the fabric-making process. It involves tremendous costs, such as hand-sewing or hand-weaving by artisans. Super luxury items! This is elegant fashion.

...However, as an ordinary person who is neither royalty nor a princess, one cannot wear this on a daily basis. It is too noble and unapproachable.

A pattern that adds a little bit of approachability to a noble pattern. It looks something like this ↓

It looks like a solid color from a distance, but when seen up close, you can see small patterns (stripes or diamond patterns). The width of the stripes and the size of the diamonds are about the size of a thumbprint. Small and subtle, yet clearly present there is what makes a pattern elegant.

Not high-end silk, but cotton or rayon. The pattern is noble, but the material is a bit casual. Through this kind of balance, it results in noble yet approachable fashion.

To create a sense of approachability, ○○ is important

It looks plain at first glance. When you look closely, it is an incredibly high-end item.

This is the characteristic of noble fashion. Instead of making every item and every element noble or high-end, relaxing somewhere (leaning towards casual). This creates approachability.

It is difficult to know how much to relax. Not only color and pattern, but fabric and silhouette also become important.
