AI and Humans: Can We Live Like Doraemon?
Doraemon first appeared in 1970.
The existence of a "cat-type robot from the future" was like a dream to people at the time, and perhaps a little eerie as well.
More than half a century has passed since then, and we have begun to live in reality with AI, a "slightly futuristic presence."
It may not pull anything out of a pocket like Doraemon, but through smartphones, apps, and everyday searches and suggestions—
before we knew it, AI has quietly come to stand by our side.
Even so, I sometimes wonder.
"Can we truly 'coexist' with AI?"
AI does not get tired.
It is not swayed by emotions.
It answers immediately when instructed.
But—
there is still no "AI that genuinely worries about and scolds Nobita" like Doraemon.
That is why I think:
"Coexisting with AI" is not about being controlled or becoming dependent—
but perhaps about "creating a kind future through imagination."
Because Doraemon was there, Nobita was able to find the courage to try again even after failing.
Conversely, because Nobita was there, Doraemon grew into a "machine with a heart."
What do we seek from AI?
How do we maintain our distance?
I believe that searching for those answers is what will deepen our own "humanity."
There is no AI like Doraemon yet.
But—
perhaps the "seed of Doraemon" exists within each and every one of us.
It might be the power to ask questions, kindness, or imagination.
The future of living with AI will not be mechanical at all, but will become something warmer and softer.
I would like to choose that kind of future.
