■ Profile of Venerable Sumanasara: Alubomulle Sumanasara Thero. A Theravada Buddhist monk. Born in Sri Lanka in April 1945. Ordained at the age of 13.
Taught Buddhist philosophy at the University of Kelaniya.
Came to Japan in 1980 as a government-sponsored student. After completing his doctoral studies at Komazawa University, he is currently engaged in Buddhist missionary work and meditation guidance at the Japan Theravada Buddhist Association.
He has also appeared on NHK Educational TV's "Era of the Heart" and served as a lecturer at the Asahi Culture Center. He is the author of numerous books, including "Buddha's Theory of Happiness," "How to View Impermanence," "No Anger" (Japanese), and "Freedom from Anger" (English).
