“Bahū devā manussā ca maṅgalāni acintayuṃ
Bahū devā manussā ca maṅgalāni acintayuṃ
ākaṅkhamānā sotthānaṃ, brūhi maṅgalam uttamaṃ.”
Ākaṅkhamānā sotthānaṃ, brūhi maṅgalam uttamaṃ
Many devas and humans have thought about blessings, wishing for well-being.
Please teach us the supreme blessing.

“Asevanā ca bālānaṃ paṇḍitānañ ca sevanā
Asevanā ca bālānaṃ paṇḍitānañ ca sevanā Pūjā ca pūjaneyyānaṃ, etaṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.
Pūjā ca pūjaneyyānaṃ, etaṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ Not associating with fools, associating with the wise, and honoring those worthy of honor; this is the supreme blessing.
Paṭirūpa-desa-vāso ca pubbe ca katapuññatā
Paṭirūpa-desa-vāso ca pubbe ca katapuññatā Attasammāpaṇidhi ca, etaṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.
Attasammāpaṇidhi ca, etaṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.
Living in a suitable place, having performed meritorious deeds in the past*1, and directing oneself correctly; this is the supreme blessing. *1 Preparing one's abilities through necessary training before doing something.
Bāhusaccañ ca sippañ ca vinayo ca susikkhito
Bāhusaccañ ca sippañ ca vinayo ca susikkhito Subhāsitā ca yā vācā, etaṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ.
Subhāsitā ca yā vācā, etaṃ maṅgalam uttamaṃ Great learning, craftsmanship, well-trained discipline,
and well-spoken words; this is the supreme blessing.
