[Creative Essay] Memories of the Stage Lit by Penlights
My high school daughter asked to borrow a penlight, saying she needed it for her brass band concert.
Apparently, it's customary to cheer from the audience with penlights.
I found the combination of a brass band concert and penlights amusing, but I also thought it was typical of kids these days.
Since moving here, I've felt that the elementary and junior high school cultural festivals were a bit lonely.
There are no plays.
I had school plays in elementary school, and I was in the drama club in junior high school. My high school freshman class project was a play.
The play chosen for my first year of high school was 'Stand by Me'. Not the Doraemon one. The one about the boys' journey.
When we were deciding on roles in homeroom, I believe I volunteered myself.
I was in charge of the script. The task of writing it out.
I don't remember the details very well, but I remember being enthusiastic about writing the script, putting my experience from the junior high drama club to good use.
I remember staring at the novel and the video I rented from the store.
Where could that script be now? I suspect it's probably at my parents' house.
Since it is definitely a work that remains in my heart, it must be kept somewhere safe.
When I told my family about these memories while we were eating hot pot together,
'So that's why you can do so many different voices, Mom,'
my child said to me.
……No, I only playfully do voices for witches, robots, and boys in front of you kids.
《This Week's Three-Topic Story》
1. A work that remains in the heart
2. Homeroom
3. Hot pot
The last part about being told that while eating hot pot is fictional, so I guess it's a creative piece with an essay-like flavor? A creative essay? 😊
