Hotate Shinkawa won the 19th 'Kono Mystery ga Sugoi!' Grand Prize and debuted in 2021. With her books 'Motokare no Yuigonjo' (Ex-Boyfriend's Will) and 'Kyoso no Bannin' (The Competitor's Guardian) being adapted into TV dramas one after another, she is one of the most talked-about authors today. For the Creative Award, she has been appointed as a special judge for the 'Bessatsu Bungeishunju' editorial department.
At the event, she will discuss important points for writing novels, such as "how to decide on a subject," "how to create attractive characters," and "how to devise plot developments," while using her own works as examples.
Ai Asai, editor-in-chief of 'Bessatsu Bungeishunju,' will also be appearing. She is scheduled to talk about the appeal of Ms. Shinkawa's works from an editor's perspective, as well as provide advice to Creative Award applicants.

Hotate Shinkawa

Born in 1991. Born in Dallas, Texas, USA. After graduating from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Law, she worked as a lawyer. She won the 19th 'Kono Mystery ga Sugoi!' Grand Prize and debuted in 2021 with 'Motokare no Yuigonjo'. In 2022, both that work and 'Kyoso no Bannin' were adapted into TV dramas in the Fuji TV 'Getsu 9' slot, becoming a hot topic. Her new books include 'Senzo Tantei' (Ancestor Detective) and 'Reiwa Sono Hoka no Reiwa ni Okeru Kenzen na Hangyaku ni Kansuru Kakū Roppō' (Fictional Six Laws Regarding Healthy Rebellion in Reiwa and Other Reiwas). Starting in the summer of 2023, she is scheduled to begin the series 'Tenshoku no Joō' (Queen of Job Changes) (tentative) in 'Bessatsu Bungeishunju'.

Editor-in-chief of the entertainment novel magazine 'Bessatsu Bungeishunju' since 2019. Launched 'WEB Bessatsu Bungeishunju' in 2022. Works she has edited include mystery titles such as Arisugawa Arisu's 'Sosasenjo no Yuubae', Katsuhiro Wu's 'Oretachi no Uta o Utae', Tow Ubukata's 'Jūni-nin no Shinitai Kodomotachi', Mio Asashiro's 'Cain wa Iwanakatta', Hikaru Enjo's 'King Leo no Bōken', and Seiichiro Oyama's 'Akai Hakubutsukan', as well as Tomihiko Morimi's 'Nettai', Nobuaki Fukamidori's 'Staff Roll', Maru Ayase's 'Kuchinashi', and Kenchi Tachibana's 'Permanent Blue'.
About the "Creative Award"
This is one of Japan's largest submission contests, covering all forms of creative work on the internet. For this second annual event, we are collaborating with 13 publishing editorial departments.

'Creative Award' Related Events
[Every Thursday] Creative Award RADIO
We will be hosting Twitter Space broadcasts every Thursday from April 27th to June 22nd (excluding holidays).
On April 27th, members of the note management team will answer any questions submitted by everyone. Starting May 11th, representatives from the participating editorial departments will appear on a rotating basis to discuss the types of works they are looking for and provide advice on creative writing.

For those interested in submitting to the Creative Award, we will open the note event space (Gaiemmae) for the day, providing a quiet area for you to focus on your writing. We will also hold talk sessions with popular authors and plot review meetings.
