The contest currently being held on note, "Creative Awards 2024", is nearing its deadline. On Saturday, June 29th, starting at 11:00 AM, we will open the note place in Yotsuya, Tokyo, as a space where you can work on your submissions. In the afternoon, we will also hold a talk and Q&A session with last year's winners and their editors, followed by a networking event.

① About the creative space

You can use the note office area and event space. Please bring your PC, writing utensils, etc., and feel free to create. You can talk to others around you who are also planning to apply for the Creative Awards, or ask questions to the Creative Awards management staff.

Food/Drink: Allowed
*Due to building security, the 1st-floor automatic door is locked, so please call the staff if you need to re-enter.
*From 16:00, room B will be the venue for the talk session.
*There are no shops or cafeterias in the building, so please bring your own food.
*Vending machines and a smoking area are available on the building's B2 floor.
*If staff determine that your behavior is disturbing other participants, you may be restricted from using the space or asked to leave.

② Last year's winner/editor talk & Q&A: "Just before the deadline, where should you push yourself?"

Featuring Nantian Seyama, who won the Asahi Shimbun Publishing Award at the Creative Awards 2023 for "Cream Yellow Sea and the House with Spring Cabbage," and her editor, Honoka Kizu. Also featuring Toko Shimotsuki, who won the Shinchosha Bunko nex Award for "Prayer Fulfillment," and her editor, Yumiko Oshima. This is a talk and Q&A session with these four guests.

In the talk, the two winners will discuss what they did just before the deadline last year, points for revision, and advice for applicants from the perspective of an editor/judge. We will also have plenty of time to answer your questions and offer advice on your concerns.

*After the talk, there will be a book sale and autograph session at the venue.
*Note: You can also have books you have already purchased signed.

We are also accepting questions for the guests in advance. Please fill them out in the event application form.

③ About the networking event

After the talk session, we will hold a networking event with the guests. We will provide light snacks and drinks, so please use this time to ask the guests questions that didn't fit into the Q&A session, or discuss your creative struggles with other participants. note staff will also be participating, so you can ask questions about note as well.

Author and novelist. Won the Asahi Shimbun Publications Award at the Creative Awards 2023 (hosted by note). The paperback edition of the winning work, "Cream Yellow Sea and the House with Spring Cabbage," is now on sale.

Toko Shimotsuki / Novelist

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture. In 2023 (Reiwa 5), won the Creative Awards (hosted by note) Shincho Bunko nex Award for "Kigan Joju." Has contributed numerous works to anthologies, including the "Yume Sanjuya" series, the "5 Minutes Later, an Unexpected Ending" series, and the e-book "Capsule Story" series.

Honoka Kizukuri (Asahi Shimbun Publications)

Joined Asahi Shimbun Publications in 2023. Nanten Seyama's "Cream Yellow Sea and the House with Spring Cabbage" is her first work as an editor. She documents the process of creating the book alongside the author in the "Kurikyabe Editorial Diary."

Yumiko Oshima (Shinchosha)

Joined Shinchosha in 2004. In addition to editing works for Shincho Bunko by authors such as Miyuki Miyabe, Riku Onda, and Kanako Nishi, she also works on series such as Ayano Takeda's "Kimi to Kogu" for Shincho Bunko nex.
