Let's Live Laughing 3: I'm Going to Become a Politician
"I'm going to become a politician!"
My boyfriend, who I live with, suddenly announced.
"Wait a second. Didn't you just say you were going to be a writer the other day? Now a politician?"
"Yes, a politician. And I'm going to become Prime Minister. Once I'm Prime Minister, I'm going to turn this stifling, sweltering, suffocating country into a more open, pleasant place."
Sweat pouring off him, he bit his lip.
I don't really get it, but he looked like he might run out of the house at any moment and start giving a speech in front of the station.
I'm sure I'll get dragged into it, too.
Giving up, I said,
"Yeah, yeah, I get it."
"Let's go buy a new air conditioner tomorrow. That'll be fine, right?"
Honestly, he's such a pain.
...Why does having a broken air conditioner make you want to aim for Prime Minister?
I thought to myself while wiping away the beads of sweat pouring off me.
But well, that part of him is kind of cute, too. (End)
~Afterword~
This is my first time participating in Kasan Tahara's weekly short-short, and after writing two pieces, I've become kind of interested in this couple.
I was wondering if I could write something about politics, but when I started writing without thinking about anything, the two of them started talking on their own, and it ended up like this 😅
