Learning About Society
Since our student days are basically just studying for entrance exams, I think many of us felt bewildered when we were suddenly thrown into society.
Now that I'm in my 40s, I've increasingly felt the need to properly handle various things, and although it's a bit late, I'm gradually getting my life in order.
Looking back, I wish I had had the opportunity to learn more during my student days about money, health, how to interact with others, practical life skills, social norms, insurance and taxes, and how to live until old age, among other things.
I wish there had been opportunities to learn about the various mechanisms of society.
In fact, I think those things were far more important than studying for entrance exams.
This is because when I was in trouble, I often didn't know where to go for advice, and even just looking at employment, I often ended up working without really knowing if the conditions were right or wrong.
Not knowing things limits your options, so you end up only being able to do what others tell you to do.
That is how I have repeated the same mistakes over and over again.
I feel that I need to study how to live.
Nowadays, you can search for anything on the internet, so I'm somehow managing, but in the end, I grew up without really understanding many things, and I think there are many times when I panic at sudden events.
Not knowing something probably means you are losing out without even realizing it.
Society's systems have become that complex now.
Since it is intelligent people who create these social systems, it is difficult for the average person to master them without any knowledge.
Therefore, I have come to think that asking about things I don't understand, researching them, and learning about them is ultimately a way to protect myself.
That said, the systems are constantly being updated, so it's a struggle to keep up. Or rather, I'm no longer keeping up (laughs).
So, I hope to learn what is necessary little by little without rushing.
When you think about it that way, life is a constant study until you die.
I'm no longer a student, but I suppose life is a school.
Perhaps the time we are given is for us to encounter various events in order to learn those subjects, as if to say, 'Now, let's study this.'
When your health fails, it might just be a part of the schedule saying, 'Now, let's learn about the body,' or
when money problems arise, it might just be time to learn about money.
Therefore, instead of blaming yourself or regretting your past actions at those times,
you can just think, 'Oh, this is the lesson for now,' and study it.
Once you finish learning, another event might appear that tells you to study something else, but by then, you won't have to panic anymore.
After all, that is just how the class schedule is set up.
When things are tough, you might want to blame not just yourself, but the structure of society or the people who created it.
I often feel that way too.
Like, I didn't want to study this subject!
However, if you are able to study many subjects, you should eventually be able to teach them to others.
Therefore, I feel every day that I want to deepen my learning, even if it is just one thing at a time, without rushing.
How about all of you?
Thank you for reading again today!
