Door-to-Door Sales: The Best Training for Growth
Today's theme is, 'Door-to-door sales: the best training for growth.'
I saw a post on Facebook discussing the importance of 'door-to-door sales.'
I often say, 'My sales style is door-to-door,' and sometimes I get reactions like, 'I haven't heard that in a long time,' or 'That won't resonate with the younger generation.'
Originally, 'dobu-ita' (door-to-door) refers to the iron or concrete slabs placed over gutters on the side of the road.
A sales style where you walk from house to house, literally 'earning with your feet,' is called 'door-to-door sales.'
It's an old term, but we live in an era where you can do sales via the internet and social media.
Perhaps that is why this grounded, gritty style stands out even more.
However, you should never look down on this 'door-to-door sales' approach.
In fact, I feel that this type of sales is the most essential.
For those in technical, creative, or specialized fields who are not originally from a sales background, sales can be an unknown world.
It might be a path they want to avoid as much as possible.
As a result, it is understandable that they rely on 'indirect sales' like social media or web marketing.
However, after one year of running my own business, I realized something.
People who are successful at attracting customers via social media aren't succeeding because they are bad at sales and are avoiding it.
They are undoubtedly sales professionals.
Even when utilizing social media, you only get results if you have the ability to empathize with people, grasp their needs, and promote your own value.
Especially with people who say, 'I was just a housewife, but I succeeded in business!', I often feel that even if they didn't study sales theoretically, they actually possessed those skills intuitively.
So, what should those who don't naturally possess that influence or skill do?
I think this: 'You have to learn with your body'—in other words, you have to do door-to-door sales.
By throwing yourself into it every time,
the ability to think from the other person's perspective
proposal skills
courage
the mindset to put your thoughts into words
These abilities are polished.
And these are essential skills for building trust with people.
That is why I believe that those who have experienced door-to-door sales can also achieve results with online marketing.
Don't laugh at earning with your feet.
Rather, it is the ultimate basic training.
If you feel like you 'lack sales ability' or 'have weak influence,' please try practicing door-to-door sales at least once.
You will see your own level realistically, and you should be able to feel that you get results in proportion to your actions.
This also applies to the world of investment.
There is no such thing as a 'way to get rich quick.'
In the end, a heart that does not give up, steady effort, and a desire for self-improvement are indispensable.
