I am hooked on Dead by Daylight (hereinafter referred to as DBD). I play the PS4/PS5 version, but I have also started playing the PC version. DBD can be played even with low PC performance, but since it didn't run properly on the PC I own, I'm going to customize it.

The machine I am customizing this time is the Fujitsu workstation, the W530. The OS is Windows 10 Pro, and all updatable drivers are up to date. It has been sufficient as a workstation for EA operations, internet, Office, and image/video editing. I will customize it so that DBD runs stably.

SSD Replacement

Replace the HDD with an SSD for comfortable operation. Just by replacing it with an SSD, most PCs will run comfortably. To keep costs down, I chose a 256GB SSD. There is an empty slot to add an HDD for data, so I will add one if necessary.

Memory Expansion

At the time of purchase, the memory was 8GB of server ECC memory. I added 16GB to make it 24GB. The W530 motherboard was fine with a mix of ECC and standard memory, but this depends on the motherboard, so please check.

Graphics Card Replacement

The graphics card was replaced from an NVIDIA QUADRO K2000 to a used NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. The NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti is a graphics card that can be used without an auxiliary power supply, so it works even on PCs with small power supplies.

DBD Graphics Settings

With the settings above, it runs comfortably. In fullscreen mode, it hits 90-100 fps, so it felt like it was running smoothly.

Since you cannot change fine color tones in the in-game graphics settings, I use GeForce Experience. I am especially happy that I can change the brightness and contrast settings.

Results of actual gameplay

As a result, I am now able to play comfortably. Previously, I had to play with a small window, which made it hard to see, but I was able to play stress-free on a large 27-inch screen.

Summary

Except for the memory and SSD, I finished it with used parts. Including the PC and necessary parts, I was able to customize it for about 60,000 yen.
