Why AI-generated text is not interesting

AI that has become widely popular

It feels like it has been about two years since AI started generating text and images,
and ordinary people began using it casually in their daily lives.

AI can continue to generate text endlessly without getting tired like a human,
and since it searches for the latest trends and generates content using that information as a source,
if you think about it normally, it seems like it could be incredibly efficient at creating
interesting blogs, viral social media posts,
and video scripts.

However, at present, the impression is that AI-generated text is just being mass-produced
without really going viral or being read much.
Have you ever realized that a piece of web content was written by AI
and felt disappointed halfway through?

Why is that?

AI cannot reproduce emotional value

Emotional value can be rephrased as humanity.
Text created by AI is very well-structured,
organized, and easy to read.
If you are using it for manuals or explanatory text, there is no tool more reassuring than this.

However, people who look at blogs and other social media are not just aiming to obtain information;
in most cases, they have a strong desire to know
“who felt what and how.”
Also, because social media has the characteristic that individuals reveal their true feelings,

there is a tendency for sharp or extreme opinions to be preferred over
average or safe opinions.

By reading parenting or matchmaking blogs, readers project themselves onto the content,
experience the feeling of sharing hardships and joys,
and are encouraged, thinking things like, “I’m not alone, I’ll do my best tomorrow.”

There is an example that convinced me, “I see.”
It is

that is.
I don’t think there is a better example that expresses emotional value so well.

I stopped writing my blog with AI

Actually, until recently, I was using AI to write articles for this blog as well.
It was partly to save time, but I also had a period where I thought,
“Since it’s a company blog, maybe proper text is better?” or
“Maybe it’s more professional if my personal character doesn’t show through too much?”
However,
thisbook I readwrote about emotional value,
and my values changed.
Even though my company is a small, one-person company,
if I don’t express who I am, no one will notice the company’s strengths.
It’s clumsy writing, but I decided to properly convey what I think
in a human way.

Does AI have emotions?

It is true that AI can behave as if it has emotions, but
that is just training it to “behave as if it has emotions,” and
if you replace it with a human,
it is like someone who cannot understand emotions
learning that: “a smile is joy,” “crying is sadness,” and then
just behaving in a way that says,
“If I do this, I will be liked and safely accepted.”
(I thought as I wrote this,
there are many humans who behave like that too! Haha)
For example,
・Acting like you want to go to a theme park because you want your girlfriend to like you,
・Watching a hero show you have no interest in as if you are enjoying it because you want your child to like you,
and so on.
And the more skilled people are at that,
the more they are said to have the ability to adapt to others and have high communication skills.)

The time may come when AI can behave exactly like a human even with emotions,
but I think it is difficult to perfectly reproduce the uncertain and incoherent parts of humans,
such as getting bored, getting tired, being in a bad mood,
envy, jealousy, and a sense of superiority.

Human excellence

AI is excellent, but humans are even more excellent,
and even if we cannot verbalize it, we feel a sense of discomfort and become cautious if something is even slightly off.

Perhaps if AI becomes more widespread,
a service where humans pretend to be AI
to provide answers might become popular.
And the people who use it might one day be impressed,
thinking, “AI has really evolved.”
