Memories etched in the heart can never be taken away
Since I was a high school student, I have never really been a person who desires material things. I often spent my part-time job earnings on experiences, such as training camps for driver's licenses, short-term study abroad programs, and travel.
Also, regarding my parents, I have more memories of them taking me to various places to have fun rather than buying me things.
I think that might be why I am who I am today.
Even now that I am an adult, I often have lively conversations with those same parents about the past.
Although we live far apart now, I try to go back to visit them as much as I can, and I make sure we spend time together.
That is because I believe that the memories we have etched into our hearts together are lifelong treasures.
To me, this is precious time that cannot be replaced by anything.
One of the values I want to cherish: "Experience"
Things may eventually disappear or change their form.
But I believe that memories never fade.
And they can never be taken away by anyone.
Furthermore, the reason I became a "memory-oriented" person is because
I have visited many places, both in Japan and abroad.
I have felt countless things there.
"What is common sense in Japan is not necessarily the norm overseas."
"The world right in front of me is not everything."
Conversely,
"The wonderful aspects of Japan that I only realized because I went abroad."
There were "realizations" there that only came from actually traveling, seeing the local areas for myself, listening to stories, and experiencing them firsthand. It also greatly broadened my perspective.
This is something that is hard to obtain just from a desk.
That is why I value "experiencing things" above all else, and I cherish the question, "How did I feel?" through those experiences.
I also think that an image is nothing more than an image.
Small experiences in daily life
When you hear the word "experience," you might imagine some kind of event or a special day.
But that is not the case.
There are many small experiences in everyday life as well.
Even when I think about raising my child,
what I remember is not what I bought for her, but the casual daily life we spent together.
Stopping by somewhere on the way home from nursery school and taking a walk back.
Exploring the neighborhood and visiting parks.
The nights we spent laughing uncontrollably under the covers.
I feel that experiences felt through the five senses leave a particularly strong impression.
What I saw, what I heard,
what I touched, and what things tasted like.
What kind of atmosphere was drifting in the air.
I want to continue having many experiences that move my heart with my daughter and keep stacking up memories. And I would be happy if those memories were etched into my daughter's heart when she grows up.
Believing that the memories we stack up will one day become a source of emotional support.
