New Book Release Scheduled!
I am pleased to announce that I will be publishing a book on quantum mechanics with Kodansha, co-authored with Professor Masahiro Hotta of Tohoku University. It is a case of 'persistence prevails'.
Yes, it is a co-authorship between Professor Hotta, famous for the textbook known as 'Hotta Quantum,' and myself, EMAN, known for 'EMAN Physics.' Some of you may be surprised by this combination.
I hope you will enjoy the book, including the recklessness of me, a layman, cheekily getting involved in quantum information—the hottest field right now, and one where you could easily get burned if you're not careful. I have written briefly about the circumstances behind this in the 'Preface,' so please look forward to it.
『The New Common Sense of Quantum Mechanics: Physics Redefined by Consciousness, Reality, and Information』 to be released on June 25, 2026.
The cover design has been finalized, and pre-orders have started at online bookstores. However, there are still two months until the scheduled release date. At the time of manuscript completion, it was scheduled for an April release, but I have heard that the printing house's schedule is packed. I have recently heard news of printing houses going bankrupt one after another due to the publishing recession. Is that the reason? I am worried. I also feel that may not be the only cause. Recently, information about new physics textbooks and science books that pique my interest has been coming in one after another. I feel that it is only natural for the schedule to be delayed. Everyone else has also been working hard on their writing for publication, haven't they?
Along with the release announcement, the table of contents has also been made public, so I plan to introduce the contents of each chapter little by little in a serialized format. I want to keep things going for the next two months so that I am not forgotten.
Actually, I received this publishing proposal around 2023, when I had almost finished writing the 'Hotta Quantum Guide,' but shortly after, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. Due to the pain after surgery and the effects of narcotic painkillers, my logical thinking ability and sensitivity were significantly reduced, and I fell into a state where I could hardly make any progress with my writing.
I was given such a wonderful opportunity, and I almost gave up, thinking it might be impossible, but thanks to the consideration of my editor, Mr. Keiyama, and Professor Hotta, they extended the deadline many times, and my health gradually recovered, allowing me to somehow complete it. I had to keep it a secret until the publication was certain, and I was also aiming for a surprise, so it was hard to keep writing in silence. I think the two of them were also very patient.
Professor Hotta is my co-author, you know?! The pressure of that! And the days I couldn't tell anyone about it! Yes, I worked hard!
Well then, I will see you again in a future article.
Thank you for your continued support.
I have prepared a summary page of the introductory articles so far.
