I Decided to Live in a 'Future Where I Enjoy Expressing Myself'
I attended the book launch talk event for Hiroomi Sueyoshi, hosted by O-tsu-san!
O-tsu-san openly declares that Sueyoshi-san is her 'oshi' (favorite). I joined her membership because I wanted to support her as she continues to take on challenges without being bound by limitations, and I didn't hesitate to sign up for this talk event as well.
I was really looking forward to hearing the two of them speak in person, and I was filled with nothing but excitement on the day of the event. I was moved by O-tsu-san's passion for 'supporting her oshi,' and as I listened to Sueyoshi-san speak in a real-life setting, I felt the assumptions and mental blocks within me gradually falling away.
During the talk show and Q&A session in the second half, the focus was on their very ways of life, and it was a series of miracles; there were moments where I couldn't help but get teary-eyed.
Among all that was said, I would like to share three points that particularly stayed with me.
1) Negative emotions are actually gifts
When trying to take on something new, negative feelings like 'maybe it's too early for me' or 'is it okay for me to participate?' tend to arise. I, too, have worried about what others think and felt my emotions sway like waves.
However, I was struck by Sueyoshi-san's words: 'Negative emotions are actually gifts.' Negative emotions themselves are neither good nor bad; they are just emotions. I realized that I don't need to get too caught up in them, and that it's important to be able to shift my mindset.
Rather, I learned that negative emotions are signs telling me, 'This isn't the path for me,' and are actually gifts!
If I can look back in the long run and think that a certain event was a turning point, then that's fine. The rest is up to me to choose!
2) Facing the message you truly want to convey in life
Even if your words feel cliché, it's important to face them properly.
Sueyoshi-san answered immediately that 'people are wonderful,' and he spends his days working to convey that message.
So, what about me?
What is the message I truly want to convey? If it were the current me, I might answer 'cherishing the small happiness in daily life' or 'valuing awareness,' but I feel that a sense of 'human growth' or 'humans being part of nature (the environment)' is at my core. I want to evolve (or deepen?) my message a little more!
3) Giving a voice to the urge to express
Do you live according to the feeling of an 'urge to express,' or do you suppress that 'urge to express' because of hesitation or feeling inferior to someone else?
Do you 'spend time with people who enjoy expressing themselves,' or do you spend your time worrying about the faces of people who mock you by saying, 'Oh, so you've gone over to that side'?
You are the one who chooses. There is only one answer.
I decided that I want to 'spend time with people who enjoy expressing themselves.' That feeling becomes a vibration that brings people together, and that space grows even further; I can see such an exciting future ahead.
In fact, today I was able to witness a place where such a space is growing! Thank you so much for creating such an encouraging opportunity.
Sueyoshi-san, O-tsu-san, Maaya-san, Matcha-san, Kamihiro-san, and everyone I was able to share this time with, thank you so much!!
