[Review]
A short story collection depicting the protagonist, female detective Maria, her partner Ren Kujo, and supporting character Air Force Major John Nissen, set before and after the Ayukawa Award-winning 'Jellyfish Won't Freeze.' Since it covers the backgrounds of the characters, it is a must-read for fans of the series. It delves into quite deep psychological territory, adding depth to the body of work. It is good that this series feels stateless, and it is also good that it delves into racial issues. It is solid as a mystery novel, and even though they are short stories, they are enjoyable.
