Electone Performance Video Notes: August 2025 Issue
This note provides a cross-sectional report on Electone and electronic organ performance videos and activities both in Japan and abroad. From the perspective of someone who specializes in 'watching and listening,' I would like to record the trends, impressions, and personal notes from the past month or two (Published: August 29, 2025).
1. 826aska announces new album 'Infinity'
Electone player 826aska, who is active in live performances across the country, has announced that her 5th album, 'Infinity,' will be released on Wednesday, October 1st. This is her first album in about two and a half years.
There are three versions: TYPE-1 (Blu-ray + CD), TYPE-2 (DVD + CD), and TYPE-3 (CD only).
Furthermore, this album (TYPE-1 and 2) will include music videos for the original songs 'Infinity' and 'Souen'.
All versions of the CD will include five original songs: 'Infinity,' 'Souen,' 'Mata Aitai,' 'Ashita e ~Kumorizora no Mukou ni~,' and 'Grand hope.'
The cover songs included are 'Daitokai PART III Theme,' 'Furuhata Ninzaburo Medley (Toshi - Douki - Shudai),' 'PRIDE,' 'White Crisis,' and 'Ashes on The Fire' (all arranged by 826aska).
She hinted at this in an interview for Monthly Electone magazine, but it is amazing that she has included five original songs. You can really feel her enthusiasm for this album!
Also, choosing 'Daitokai PART III Theme' is a cool, classic choice that is very characteristic of 826aska! And among the original songs, there are some that tug at the heartstrings just by looking at the titles...
I checked the website of the publisher, Yamaha Music Communications, and personally, I recommend TYPE-1. TYPE-2 is similar in content, but I am curious about the booklet contents and the atmosphere of the cover photo, so I am interested in that one as well.
So, congratulations on the album release announcement! I can't wait for the release!
And, happy birthday on August 26th! I will continue to support your future success! (Information related to 826aska will continue in the next article.)

3. "Is Paris Burning? (Opening Theme)" by Nanami Utsumi

Performance video ⇒ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqRkE_4lE8k
The performance of "Is Paris Burning? (Opening Theme)" by the lovely Electone player Nanami Utsumi, who was featured in last month's note, is truly wonderful.
As of the end of last month, the video had surpassed 21,000 views, but amazingly, as of the end of August, it has exceeded 88,000 views!!! Congratulations!
Last month, I was very surprised that it gained 10,000 views in the few days between writing and publishing the article, but to see it increase this much further is truly a mini-viral state.
Even now, the view count is steadily climbing, and I believe this Electone performance video fits the rule of "a universally acclaimed, wonderful performance," where the number of "likes" exceeds the number of channel subscribers!
A great number of comments have been posted, and I am looking forward to seeing how much further the view count will grow!
4. "Glorious Edo ~ Taiga Drama 'Berabo: Tsutaju Eiga no Yume-banashi' Main Theme" by Kana Koike

Performance video ⇒ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnE0YoXo0kM
Kana Koike is a keyboardist and composer/arranger who uploads many Electone performance videos to YouTube.
In late July 2025, she uploaded a performance video of the "Glorious Edo ~ Taiga Drama 'Berabo: Tsutaju Eiga no Yume-banashi' Main Theme" (composed by John Graham) to YouTube.
The 2025 NHK Taiga drama "Berabo: Tsutaju Eiga no Yume-banashi" is a story depicting the turbulent life of Tsutaya Juzaburo, a publisher who discovered and launched the talents of many ukiyo-e artists and writers during the Edo period.
Kana brilliantly performs this uplifting main theme from the story. It is a song and performance with a distinct quality that enters your mind easily and stays with you once you hear it.
Thank you for uploading such a wonderful performance video!

6. Megumi appears on the Yamaha JOC Channel!

Video ⇒ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03Ez8K7xH2M

Video ⇒ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8dLhjRq6Pc
Megumi Iwama (hereinafter referred to as Megumi), an Electone performer whom I have frequently introduced in this note, has appeared twice in a row on the YouTube Yamaha JOC Channel's "Hanamaru Music Teacher Season 2"! Wow!
This program is described as follows: 'We deliver interview videos of YAMAHA MUSIC SCHOOL instructors who have experience performing or participating in the Yamaha Gala Concert, Junior Original Concert (JOC), and other events hosted by the Yamaha Music Foundation, as well as performance videos by the instructors. The two guides, Manamaru and Mina, will fully convey the charm of the instructors.'
I watched both videos, and the structure is practically a profile introduction video for Megumi! Even though she was being interviewed at length by two people who appear on television, I was impressed by how calm she was and how she carefully chose her words.
Furthermore, there were four things that left an impression on me.
The first is her singing, even if it was just a little bit. I was surprised by this unexpected side of her!
The second is the footage of her performing "A Town with an Ocean View" in her childhood, where she was moving her body and playing quite intensely. This was also a surprise.
And when I listen closely to this performance, I feel that she already had a very rich sense of expression at that time. It is deeply moving to think that this video leads to the "Kiki's Delivery Service - A Town with an Ocean View" performance uploaded to her own YouTube channel.

Performance video ⇒ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m9BCYUq5BA
The third point is that she mentioned she wants to "spread the appeal of the Electone as an instrument." Since she said she wants to create her own venues for expression in the future, I am looking forward to her holding concerts and live performances.
And the fourth point is that a snippet of her performance of her original song "Amakakeru" was introduced. I believe it was the part connecting the middle to the end, and this melody is personally one of my favorite parts.
Also, a full version of this performance video is scheduled to be uploaded to YouTube around October. I am eagerly waiting for this as well.
So, thank you for your hard work appearing on the Yamaha JOC Channel! And I wish Megumi continued success!
7. Column: "Why do I travel to attend Electone live performances?"
I have various hobbies, but few involve traveling far, and until now, I rarely went on long-distance trips more than once a year.
However, since I started going to various places to listen to Electone performances, I sometimes find myself traveling to a level that makes me think, "Have I exceeded my limits?"
Here, I decided to delve deeper into "Why do I travel to attend Electone live performances?"
Electone live shows and concerts. While I feel excited when I see an announcement, I think long and hard every single time about whether to go. It depends on my schedule, the date, time, location, and, of course, my budget (lol).
In my case, the travel expenses almost always cost more than the ticket price. I take the Shinkansen or a plane, and sometimes I even need to stay overnight. When that happens, going to a live show requires a bit of "decision-making."
Even so, why do I choose to go? For many people, it's probably "to enjoy the live performance and the fun," but for me, in addition to that, it's about my "expectations for the future" of that Electone player.
This Electone player might surely become even bigger (gaining more popularity and influence, and expanding their field of activity) from here on out. I have this desire to be present at this very moment and witness with my own eyes their growth and success.
Perhaps, based on my own past actions, I am looking at "Electone players who seem likely to become big in the future, based on the performance videos they upload online."
Traveling for live shows is an action that makes me excited about the future. It costs money and time, but because of that expectation, I feel it is worth traveling far.
8. Conclusion
This summer has also been hit by intense heat and extreme temperatures. Man, I really wish it would stop. And since the heat is expected to continue, let's take thorough measures against heatstroke, eat delicious food, get plenty of sleep, and overcome the final stretch of the heat!
With that said, I would like to wrap up this issue by introducing a recommended recipe for "somen" noodles. It tastes better if you make the mentsuyu dipping sauce a little stronger!
See you next month!
