New Year's Greeting
My resolution for 2026, having dedicated myself to Eiken
Happy New Year.
I sincerely hope that 2026 will be a peaceful and fruitful year for all of you.
I wish you all the best.
For many years, I have been involved in English education, particularly with the Eiken test.
As I have worked with many students and their parents over the years,
I feel a certain conviction every time the New Year arrives.
That is,
children who struggle with Eiken are by no means lacking in effort!
that is what I mean.
Why do they struggle with Eiken even though they can speak English?
Especially in the last few years, I have heard many voices like this from Japanese students living abroad and returnees.
I have heard many such comments.
・I can speak English, but I don't get results on Eiken
・I keep failing the secondary interview
・I don't know what or how to fix it
Precisely because they have English proficiency,
the confusion of "why?" becomes even greater.
However, this is not strange.
Eiken is not a test of English conversation, but, a qualification test conducted based on Japanese evaluation criteria
that is why.
What I value
The most important thing in Eiken preparation is not "speaking more" or
"memorizing difficult words."
It is,
to accurately understand in Japanese why you are not getting points.
・What is the intent of the question
・Where are you being evaluated
・How can you answer without losing points
Just by organizing these one by one,
the students' expressions change surprisingly.
"So that's what it was."
I love the moment I hear these words more than anything.
Towards 2026
This year, too, I will continue to face each student with sincerity.
Especially in 2026,
I want to be a source of support for Japanese students living abroad, returnees,
and those struggling with the Eiken secondary interview.
To not let them take detours. To verbalize their anxieties.
To turn the "reasons for not being able to" into a "path to being able to."
I believe that is my role.
Finally
At the beginning of the new year,
to those who have read this message.
If you are currently feeling even a little bit,
"Will things be okay as they are?"
that feeling is very important.
It is never too late to learn.
Just by changing your approach, the results will definitely change.
I look forward to your continued support this year.
