GREENLAND (Released in theaters on June 4, 2021)

Gerard Butler plays an ordinary person. The production plan is to strip the audience of the sense of invincibility they usually feel in his movies and draw them into a heart-pounding disaster story.

Even Gerard Butler is helpless against a comet collision. The audience is also placed on the edge of that despair.

The comet's name, "Clark," is clearly derived from Arthur C. Clarke. "Rendezvous with Rama" is a story in which Northern Italy is devastated by a comet collision in 2077.

It depicts a grand-scale event, even for a disaster movie, where the Clark comet breaks into pieces and rains down on cities all over the world.

The depiction of the shockwaves, which are said to exceed the speed of sound, is tremendous, like a tsunami of air.

Furthermore, this Clark comet is set to have suddenly appeared from another solar system, which is a metaphor for the current world situation. The way people fall into a panic under those circumstances is carefully depicted. Although the movie is a lie, it properly portrays the truth that emerges from that lie, making it a very interesting, thrilling, and thought-provoking film.
