AI shattered my "assumptions" with numbers. What I realized after having it analyze 198 days of work logs

Hello. I am Ishikawa, a parallel COO at Engineer's Hub, working daily to streamline back-office operations.

I have started using ClaudeCode daily and have been feeding it various data, so I decided to have it analyze my 198 days of work logs.

I, who thought I was "working freely," froze a little after seeing the results.

There were only 13 days of complete time off (days where I didn't touch my PC even once).

I had opened my PC for 76 consecutive days at the longest.
The scary part is that I had absolutely no awareness of this.

The feeling that I was "getting rest" was not accurate.

Since I work from home, I would do chores, go shopping, or take walks during the afternoon. That is why I truly did not have the feeling that I was "working all day long."

However, what the AI was looking at was not feelings, but numbers.

Out of 198 days, there were only 13 days of complete time off. That is about 2 days per month. In February and April, I had zero days off. From March to May, I continued to work for 76 consecutive days. My working hours spanned from 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM, and there was even a "second peak" of work between 10:00 PM and midnight.

I think the time I felt I was "resting" was not time where my mind was completely detached from work. Even while doing chores, the awareness that "that task is still left" or "I have to reply later" was always there.

The gap between feelings and data. This was the part that hit me the hardest in this analysis.

"Being able to work anytime" was robbing me of my freedom.

The benefit of working from home is the freedom of time and place. But that freedom is also a "lack of boundaries."

If you go to the office, there is a physical cutoff point called leaving work. At home, that does not exist. An environment where you "can work anytime" is, conversely, an environment where "work can intrude anytime."

I intended to control it flexibly myself. But in reality, there was almost no day where I completely let go for a full day. For 76 days, not even once.

The AI told me that with numbers, without emotion.

Rest is not something you "take if you can," but something you "block out in advance."

Since realizing this, I have changed my approach.

I decided on a "half-day off without a PC" on Monday and Thursday afternoons and registered it as a recurring event on my calendar. I don't schedule work during that time, and I don't open my PC. That is the only simple rule.

I didn't touch my PC at all for the first time in a while yesterday, but I felt incredibly restless (laughs). For a body that had been moving for 76 consecutive days, "doing no work" was actually unsettling.

But that's when I realized it. I had forgotten how to take a break. So, I needed to practice taking breaks, too.

Not a full day right away, but starting with half a day. That was a realistic first step for me right now.

AI can also be a mirror that reflects yourself

AI is not something that will take away our jobs. But this time, AI quietly shattered my assumptions.

The feeling of "working freely" wasn't real. The data showed that honestly.

Even if you think you are "working freely," aren't you actually bound by that freedom?

I recommend taking a look at your own data for once. You will find more new discoveries than you might think.

I am currently preparing a community for those involved in back-office operations.
