How many more times will tears fall in my life?
How many more times will tears fall in my life?
Seeing the Japanese national team players fighting in the World Cup truly warms the heart, doesn't it?
Those glistening 'tears' shed by the players on the pitch. I imagine many of you watching in front of the screen couldn't help but tear up as well, seeing their frustration and joy overflowing to the limit.
Medically speaking, tears shed out of frustration stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, making them high in sodium and salty in taste. Conversely, tears of joy are said to be slightly sweet because the parasympathetic nervous system becomes dominant, resulting in a higher water content. The players' tears are truly proof that their hearts and bodies have fought to their limits.
Now, let me reflect on myself for a moment. 'Have I actually cried at work recently?' ...Hmm, no. I can't think of a single time. The last time I cried was probably last week when I slammed my little toe into the corner of my office desk and writhed in agony, going 'Ugh...'
Looking back, recent work tends to prioritize efficiency and 'time performance' above all else. Once, a crucial presentation document I had prepared with great enthusiasm vanished in an instant when my computer froze. My mind went blank, and I couldn't even cry; I could only let out a dry laugh. I suddenly feel a sense of loneliness in such robotic, monotonous days.
Don't you think work without emotion is less than human? Having your heart stirred, or tearing up with a 'We did it!' after achieving a goal as a team—those moments full of humanity should be the joy of working.
You only live once. Chasing efficiency is fine, but I want to do work that is passionate enough to make my heart tremble and bring me to tears a few more times, even if it's messy. Seeing the passionate tears of the Japanese national team made me feel that way strongly.

I wonder how many more times I can do work that makes me emotional enough to cry...
