Is today's school system strange? Is it crazy?
This may sound a bit critical, but I truly believe that schools today are crazy.
With reports of teacher misconduct, incidents, sexual harassment, and corporal punishment appearing almost daily... the educational environment is supposed to be a place for nurturing children, yet all I see is unbelievable news.
That is precisely why I believe that "community oversight" and "involvement from diverse adults" are more important now than ever. If more people watch over schools from the outside, it will surely create a better environment for both the children and the teachers. I feel it is important for the entire community to provide support—not to isolate the perpetrators, but for the sake of their growth and rehabilitation.
This happened when I shared these thoughts with a school.
When I told the teachers, "I want to cooperate as a member of the community" and "I want to think together about how to make the school better," the response I received was—a sneer.
An attitude of clearly looking down on me, laughing through their nose.I still cannot forget the coldness of the air in that moment.
Honestly, this is why I have to say that "today's schools are crazy."
Teachers, who are in a position to teach children about "compassion" and "sincerity,"laughing at and trampling on someone's sincere feelings—.
The reality that this is happening in the field of education gives me a strong sense of discomfort.
Of course, as I always say, not all teachers are like this.
There are many teachers who work hard to support children and face them with sincerity.
That is exactly why it is so disappointing. I felt that the trust in the entire educational field is being lost because of a very small number of arrogant administrators and teachers who wield their power.
