According to a 2025 study from Harvard University, a major reason why children are unable to concentrate in class lies in the combination of "brain development" and the "digital environment." The childhood brain develops the ability to maintain attention slowly through "non-digital experiences" such as tactile play, human conversation, and being read picture books. On the other hand, the factors that rob children of their concentration are not limited to learning. Sleep deprivation is also a major issue. Using a smartphone before bed lowers the quality of sleep and significantly reduces concentration the next day. Additionally, Harvard experts point out that we cannot overlook the fact that children are being deprived of "boredom." Time spent feeling bored is actually essential for "regulating inner attention." It is while wandering through thoughts or daydreaming that creativity and self-regulation are honed.

Stepping away from screens, spending time idly in nature, or playing directly with friends—the perspective that these simple experiences hold the power to restore concentration will likely provide new insights for many parents and educators.
