Mieharu Karaoke Late Summer Version.

Until a few hours ago,
at Hitachi Seaside Park,

'Manpy no G-Spot' I was just singing along
with 50,000 people, so isn't this baton

I am filled with gratitude and excitement
to Yasaburo-san for passing me the baton
at the perfect timing.

The excitement of Rockin' Japan Fes '24 has not yet cooled down...

I went to
the final day of Rockin' Fes!

Yabai T-Shirts Yasan was great,
Momoclo was great,
I danced, made noise, and had fun.

Ryokuoushoku Shakai's singing voice was overwhelming and brought me to tears.

I thought Creepy Nuts
should be heard live,

and their MC was so funny that
I want to listen to
the All Night Nippon archives.

WANIMA was
also soulful.

Exceeding the scheduled time by 1 minute
and rushing off stage was charming.

As for The Yellow Monkey,
they are exactly my generation, so

Including Yoshii-san's comeback,
I was doubly happy.

By the way,
by the time The Yellow Monkey finished,
my voice and lower back were destroyed.

The reason is,
my goal was

today's grand finale,
Southern All Stars!!

In the general standing area,
in order to secure the front row,

I shall never go to the bathroom, so
I consciously avoided hydration,
a bad move that good kids
should never imitate.

But,
it was worth it,

even though only the left side of my face
got strangely sunburned (bitter laugh),

it was the closest I've ever been
to Kuwata-san in my life.

I could clearly see

Still, festivals are amazing,

A band that 50,000 people can sing every song along to
is truly on another level.

The middle-aged guy next to me
was wiping away tears with his towel the whole time (lol).

Back in high school,
the beautiful manager of the judo club

'Utsutte motto baby suteki ni in your sight'
I love these lyrics!!

I cherished that one comment
she muttered in the club room,
and when I go to karaoke at work,

I replace the word 'Ellie'
with the first name of my female boss.

The reason I have been able to
maintain good relationships at work
until now is

thanks to this song!

As expected,
if I apply that to a female subordinate,
it would be called sexual harassment,

so I haven't been singing it lately...

Do you know
the secret story behind the birth of this song?

After a bit of infidelity was discovered (!),

Kuwata-san
sang it over the phone to Yuko Hara,

whom he had been dating since that time,
and that song was this one (Itoshi no Ellie),
and the name Ellie

comes from the name of Kuwata-san's own older sister.

I have written about this in my own articles before, but

ever since their debut with 'Katte ni Sindbad',
they have been at the forefront for 46 years,
and their creative drive never wanes.

Moreover, the band members
have been together since their university club days,
and to top it all off,
there is a wife (Yuko Hara) in the band...!

That alone makes them an otherworldly monster band.

Every time I hear Kuwata-san or Hara-san speak,
the fact that they respect each other

comes through so clearly,
which I have loved for a long time,

and I have always, always imagined
becoming a couple like 'Kuwata-san and Hara-san',

and have envisioned an ideal couple's relationship.

They are a married couple,
work colleagues,
continue to produce results,
and on top of that, they get along well.
It's the best, isn't it?

For that reason as well,
'Itoshi no Ellie' is

always ranked in my (ever-changing) life's top 3,

a song I love
and want to cherish.

The sea

When driving
with the Edase family

if we see the sea,
it has to be this song (a must).

For my son and daughter too,

the intro of this song equals the sea

must be ingrained in them like a conditioned reflex, though.

The fact that the lyrics are a bit mature
is still a secret.

I hope that as you grow older,
you'll come to understand them,
(understand what, you ask? Haha!).

Kuwata-san's voice in the 80s
is just incredibly sultry.

Even as a man,

even now,
my brain goes numb
at this sexy singing voice.

Omoisugoshi mo Koi no Uchi (Even a Misunderstanding is Part of Love)

On the way to Hitachinaka,
I passionately told my wife, 'I have a feeling they'll sing this song!!!'
so,

when the intro to this song
played at the festival,
I was especially excited🔥

The percussion stands out
and it has a fun Latin groove, but

the lyrics and,
above all, Kuwata-san's singing,

The frustration of being in love
The heart-wrenching pain that makes you writhe

seem to embody,

and the more I listen, the more painful it gets.

It's painful, but fun.
Moving your body

is
really a mix of
so many different emotions,

and I believe it's a one-of-a-kind worldview
that only Southern All Stars can create.

'Onna Yonde Boogie' is also
painful and frustrating, isn't it.

Inase na Locomotion

I started liking Southern All Stars because of
my mother's influence.

So, even before I was old enough to know better,
I listened to them
like a heavy rotation, but

it wasn't until high school that I
became independent and
decided to listen to them seriously.

And,
the earlier Southern All Stars songs are, the more they
mimic Western music, so

you can't really tell what they're saying.

Especially
this song, 'Inase na Locomotion,'
you can't tell what's being said from start to finish, and
the lyrics themselves are meaningless (lol).

Even so,
there are parts you can clearly hear,

Would it be an exaggeration to say that
these lyrics are
Southern All Stars themselves??

Western and Japanese music,
rock, jazz,
dance music,
popular songs, and eroticism
all mixed together in a melting pot of emotions.

Southern All Stars, which is simply a
giant energy life form, their songs,

within each person's own vessel,
each in their own way, have plenty of charm to 'get into' so,

even though they are quirky
and have an eroticism that is
borderline non-compliant,

I think that's why they have
an unshakable position as a national band.

Oh, and it's not just analysis,
I actually sing this song at karaoke (lol).

'two traveling together'
by my side throughout my life.

In the past,

in the future as well.

There must be so many people
who feel the same way.
