The Secret to Consistency is OOOO ~ Almost 100 Posts!!
Almost 100 consecutive posts!
This article marks my 94th consecutive daily post.
I am approaching the 100-post milestone.
The joy of receiving a "like"
on the article I posted with a racing heart.
When I received my
first "comment,"
I truly felt that someone was reading it,
and it made me
straighten my posture.
By reading other articles,
I've gained eye-opening perspectives
and had unexpected encounters
with people.
Since joining the magazine,
my readership has steadily grown,
and although it's slow,
my followers are definitely increasing,
and my account is growing.
Ryoyan-san,
Kurosaki Nao-san,
Toraneko-san,
Yohei-san,
Taishi-san,
Yoshinori Otani-san,
Pato-san
Thank you all so much, always!
My growth is at a snail's pace,
but this slow pace
is comfortable for me!
The secret to consistency is OOOO
That said,
the content I write is
just me rambling,
recording the trajectory of my emotions and thoughts,
so it's close to a monologue,
but I hope it encourages others who feel the same way,
or serves as a small seed for unexpected discoveries,
so I'm writing something on note again today.
To put it bluntly,
my basic stance is
"casual" and "spontaneous".
Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to keep it up.
The secret to how Tamori-san
was able to continue "Waratte Iitomo!"
for 31 and a half years is
not to reflect
he said,
and while I was impressed by how typical that was of Tamori-san,
I definitely
believe this is the truth.
If you get overly excited
or depressed
by every single
small success or failure,
you won't last.
While keeping your eyes on the
distant goal you want to reach,
in reality,
it's two steps forward, one step back,
three steps forward and two steps back is the reality.
Even at a frustrating pace,
if you keep going,
you will reach it someday.
Classes are "just like that," too.
Self-centered assumptions
I used to be someone who
would put my 'soul' into every single class
and thought I was preparing for lessons that way.
I would research the materials,
obsess over every word until it became
content I could truly find interesting,
always create handouts from scratch,
and refine it into content I felt was
'perfect'
before presenting it to my students.
The joy when it really clicks
is truly immense.
There were students who said,
'Because of your class, I decided on my career path!',
and even after more than 10 years,
'Teacher, I still remember what you said in that class!'
hearing that made it all worthwhile.
It also became a moment of conviction
that what you do with sincerity
will properly reach the other person.
However, around my fourth year as a teacher,
I suddenly started feeling exhausted.
My wife often teases me about it, but
I am...
the type who tends to burn brightly,
and then turn into ash all at once.
As my wife says, my 'emotions are a roller coaster'
(bitter laugh).
My fourth year of teaching
was when I was a homeroom teacher for third-year high school students.
I wanted to deliver something good
in class, so
after school, once the students had left,
in an empty classroom,
I would shadow an hour's worth of class
every night.
A senior teacher who watched me
giving it my all, speaking to an empty classroom,
even praised me, saying,
'I want to use Edase's attitude as a model for the younger staff,'
but in reality,
I was scared.
And so, before I knew it,
there was a period where I was completely exhausted.
I am,
a passionate, intense middle-aged guy who always has a strong desire to 'reach' people,
but sometimes I get it wrong and
arrogantly think,
'I want to deliver perfection!!!'
This is what leads to becoming 'ash'...
It is a dangerous 'flame'
that I use to set myself on fire.
When aiming for perfection,
people tend to focus their consciousness
on 'flaws' and 'shortcomings'.
Then, before you know it,
even though you were aiming for 100 points,
the minus 1 point starts to look
enormously magnified.
Because you hyper-focus on the minus 1 point
rather than the 99 points,
your confidence drops rapidly.
In these situations,
the scenario is always
self-centeredness
That's what it is!!!
You are 'just'
arbitrarily in your own mind
turning a Chihuahua
into a lion.
Once you realize that,
you'll find yourself chuckling,
your mood will lighten,
and your actions will become speedier.
And you can truly feel grateful to those around you.
Thank you for accepting me
even as I am.
The sensibility of loving 'defective products'
In industries like automobile manufacturing and pharmaceuticals,
of course, even the slightest mistake is a no-go.
It's a world where a single point deduction is absolutely unforgivable.
But you must never
equate that kind of
'world of things'
with the 'world of humans'.
The 'world of humans' is,
(to put it bluntly)
a world full of defective products.
Everyone feels
mistakes, troubles, or flaws somewhere.
That is the fundamental premise.
You must never demand 'perfection'.
Rather than defective products,
humans are
more like puzzle pieces.
There are always protrusions and indentations.
Once you find the companions and environment
where those puzzle pieces fit perfectly,
people grow rapidly.
If you are suffering right now,
it just means your puzzle piece isn't fitting in.
But it's okay.
There is 'definitely'
a piece that fits you.
In that way,
at least in the world of education,
if you don't have the sensitivity to love (forgive) 'defective products',
wouldn't the students be left unsaved??
Without ever compromising on that one line,
I'll go and chat away in class today,
casually and in moderation.
Thank you very much
for reading until the end.
This will continue to be
a rambling note account,
but please keep supporting me!
