IQ Project LIVE MAGICAL SPEC 5th Anniversary SPECIAL

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Skala Espacio, MAGICAL SPEC's 5th anniversary solo live concert was held.
Two days later, on Monday, February 23, an event celebrating MAGICAL SPEC's 5th anniversary featuring idols from the IQ Project was held at the same venue, and I attended.

When the start time arrived, MAGICAL SPEC's entrance SE played, and they appeared in the blue and white checkered costumes from their solo live concert "magical nova"!
This event celebrates MAGICAL SPEC's 5th anniversary with the IQ Project!
The IQ Project trainees, HelloYouth, and LinQ also entered one group at a time! I was happy to hear the background music, which was the entrance SE from the 5th anniversary solo live concert, once again!

First, LinQ's Rana Umizuki stumbled a bit, saying something like "Shita Sugar?", but she praised ANNA's singing, and ANNA bowed deeply and was humbly cute, haha.

Then SHIKI teased her, saying "Rana-san just called STAR SUGAR 'Shita Sugar'," and RINKA acted like a middle-management older sister, saying "I'll train her!" haha.
It was amusing to see SHIKI being discovered by the HelloYouth members as a promising newcomer, with them asking, "Is she a brat!?" haha.

The first group was the IQ Project trainees, so they left the stage early.

IQ Project Trainees

It had been since the opening act of MAGICAL SPEC's solo live concert "Love and Magic Carnival" last November that I had seen the IQ Project trainees, but when I first saw them at LEADING FUKUOKA in July 2024 at the same Skala Espacio venue, I was blown away by their incredible performance. Thinking back, MIMI and MEI caught my eye then.
I was happy that they performed the Arabian-themed "Love lean to you (Rabirin-chu)" that I had been studying!

Shizuku Mochizuki's hair got messy, but she didn't care and kept performing, which was professional and cool... and Shizuku Mochizuki also gave the final greeting!

HelloYouth

HelloYouth since LEADING Shinagawa in January.
I was captivated by how amazing Aoi Oshima's facial expression management was.
And Mirai Ooba was cool, inserting refreshing cross-eyed looks and funny faces into her performance...

I got excited seeing the otagei move where they crouch down and go "Yeah, yeah, yeah!" which I had seen on Twitter, for the first time!
The "Baka-yaro!" (You idiot!) in the final "I've loved you for so long, are you really going to leave, you idiot!" was also refreshing!

LinQ

From the first song, the funky and favorite "Wessai Gassai"! I was happy to finally see it live!

Then, a nostalgic song that personally reminded me of CHOSHUCALLING at the end of last month.
"Chime ga Owareba" featured Akari Hanayama introducing the song as "M!G!S!P!", a MAGICAL SPEC alphabet version! During the song, there was also the side-to-side choreography from MAGICAL SPEC's "Maji? cool! SPEC"!

Following Rana Umizuki's song intro, "I hope to see you all again," came "Narane". The songs provided by Sho Yamamoto and Motonari Murakawa are really just too good...
And the finale was "Oshirase shimasu, kimi wo suki ni narimashita" introduced by Sawa Morito!
As expected, the overall setlist was close to the one at CHOSHU CALLING, and it was a treat for me that MAGICAL SPEC's choreography was incorporated.

MAGICAL SPEC

The costumes were the pure white ones from the 5th anniversary one-man live in Fukuoka that were announced! AYA-chan is so cute, as expected...

Starting from the first song, "Camellia"!!!! The setlist of MagiSpe, which goes full throttle, releases so much dopamine that I go crazy in a good way, and I love it so much...!!

The second song was "Cosmic Angel"!
I love how cool it is from the first verse. The final chorus that leads into RINKA-chan's long tone is really exciting...!

Here was the new song "Video Girl Crisis", I think it was, I really love the spoken part... taking the brakes off, invincible mode!

And "Con-connection"!
Could it be that I just happened to miss the timing last year and this year I have perfect attendance, but was it a standard song...?
It's so exciting with the trance, and the choreography and calls are fun! I love ANNA-chan's part from the start of the singing.

"New Era Angel"!
My perspective changed again after watching the song from the 3rd anniversary live after AYA-chan joined, and watching videos of past anniversary lives on YouTube.
It's so exciting and fun...! I was thinking, isn't AYA-chan too cute... when I noticed the penlight of the LinQ fan next to me had also turned purple, and I felt proud for no reason.
And then it's AIKA-chan's "Last boss who darkens the world" leading into AYA-chan's drop chorus...
Watching the footage of past anniversary lives, I realized that when I first saw them in 2024, they were already incredibly good, but they've gotten even better...

With the shout of "Let's go for the second half!", I was informed that more than half of the 40 minutes had passed, even though it felt like only 10 minutes.
And "A-B-C"!
It's one of the songs I've loved since I first saw it, but it's a song I've come to love even more since the free live on AYA's birthday. AIKA-chan's singing in the part that used to be MIHARU-chan's, "Conscious transformation, change of mood, gum-like emotions that have lost their flavor, I want to chew them more gently, I like the taste of you," is really good...
The drum and bass is also really comfortable...

"STAR SUGAR" was a song where I was a little surprised that I was able to keep up with waving my hands during the chorus.
I love KOTONE-chan's "Choco Pen" part...

"Bikini-cation" is always really fun...

"Maji? cool! SPEC" was near the end, but it felt like only 10 minutes had passed. The calls and choreography were so much fun...

The last song was introduced by KOTONE-chan with, "I hope we can continue to walk with everyone in the IQ Project."
And then "Parallel".
I felt that it had become an important song for me.
The geeks here have also had their ups and downs, and like me, some are DDs and some are devoted fans, but I thought it was nice that our paths crossed like this. And I listened to the 5th anniversary one-man live's "Parallel" while soaking in the lingering memories, and it was really good.

My memory is hazy, but I think we left to the extended SE of HAPPYSMILE...

MagiSpe finished their live, and other groups also appeared on stage to reunite!
IQ Project trainee Shizuku Mochizuki-chan's hairstyle was updated to look like a cute puppy with long ears in braids!


Once again, congratulations to MagiSpe on their 5th anniversary!

And first, a comment from Sai Kuroda from the IQ Project trainees.
"I originally liked 'A-B-C', so I was happy to hear it at the 5th anniversary one-man live and today."
That's what she said.
I nodded vigorously, thinking, 'I know!! Me too!!'
And when she said, "I like the worldview of the lyrics," I nodded vigorously again, thinking, 'I know!! Me too!!'

From HelloYouth, Yuki-chan (I think, sorry if I'm wrong) said that it had been since January since the last IQ Project event, and she loves them and wants them to do it once a month, and I nodded again, thinking, 'I know!!'

She also mentioned that MagiSpe's choreography was included here and there.
She corrected herself at the end, saying "firmly" instead of "clearly," but was it about this story of "the choreography was 'clearly' included"...

At the end, RINKA-chan hyped up the venue with MagiSpe's SE, saying, "Please shout 'MAGICAL SPEC!'!" And then they left the stage, and the curtain fell.

Special Event

LinQ and the IQ Project trainees held their special event in the lobby, while inside the live venue, MAGICAL SPEC held theirs in the back and HelloYouth held theirs in the front. However, LinQ members personally handed out flyers near the MAGICAL SPEC special event space before their event started, and I was able to receive one from Anra Tachibana.

In closing

Having seen MagiSpe in January at LEADING Shinagawa, and then starting to get hooked—like a typical DD with no backbone—on HelloYouth and LinQ at CHOSHUCALLING, plus the lingering excitement from the MagiSpe 5th anniversary solo live, I still wanted to see more MagiSpe lives, so I attended, and it was truly fun...

I'm still awkward at the special events, but I was happy that you recognized and remembered me...
I was also incredibly happy that you read my note...

It'll be a little while until the next time, but I want to go to a MagiSpe venue again soon...
I've regretted every time since I saw them again in 2024 why I didn't get into this sooner, but I hope to go in the spring...
Anyway, I had an incredibly fun three-day weekend with the 5th anniversary solo live and this event...
I had a solo after-party with motsunabe at West on the way home, and it was delicious()
