The Woman in Shocking Pink

I love socks.

Whenever I see colorful or boldly patterned socks, I can't help but pick them up.

When I was working, I only had two choices: black socks or stockings. Even on my days off, I stuck to muted colors and patterns that were just an extension of that.

I wasn't really that interested in fashion to begin with.

For some reason, though, after I quit my job, I started having fun with my socks.

Patterned socks and eye-popping primary colors.
Socks I wouldn't have even glanced at before started gradually filling up my drawer.

I've forgotten what triggered it, but I learned at this age that even if your clothes are simple, you can easily incorporate a pop of color or a sense of playfulness with your socks.

I learned that at this age.

Since then, my collection has been filled with colors and patterns that are quite pop for my age.

When I find cute socks while I'm out, I just...
I spot them—no, I have a sharp eye for them.
Especially if they have a cat pattern.

“This will be a great accent color!”

Once I think that, I find myself heading to the register.

Above all, they are much kinder to my wallet than clothes.

And a few days ago, I clicked 'buy' online again.

A lucky bag of socks and accessories.

The lucky bag arrived this morning.

When I opened it, there were shocking pink mesh socks, two other pairs, a pouch, and arm covers.

Shocking pink, huh...

It's a color I would never choose for myself.

Even so, thinking, 'It might actually work as an accent color,' I tried them on right away.

They're not that bad.

The pink peeking out from the hem of my pants feels like today's lucky color, and it somehow cheers me up.

If I can keep myself in a good mood with this, it's a small price to pay.

Clouds floating higher than usual.

Blue sky.

And the shocking pink that peeks out every time I walk.

That alone makes my steps feel a little lighter.

A summer afternoon.

Today, a slightly cooler breeze than usual is blowing, and I feel like even the wind is on my side.
