Are note's fees high or low? A story about how I was surprised after calculating them
Hello, good evening, I'm Noritamao, a huge fan of noritama.
Today's topic is this.
Are note's fees high? Or low?
It is.
When selling paid note articles, or after they've sold, the thing you're bound to wonder about is, "How much do they take in fees?"
I didn't pay much attention to it at first, but once I actually made some sales and did the math,
I was a bit shocked, thinking, "Wait, they take this much?"
I'm sure many others have the same question, so I'll summarize it here in a simple, easy-to-understand way.
How note's fee structure works
There will be a lot of numbers coming up, so
if you're not a fan of them, feel free to skip this part (lol).
There are two types of fees on note.
Sales fee: 10% of sales
Payment processing fee: 5% of sales
In total, 15% of sales is deducted.
Additionally, there is a 270 yen fee when transferring funds.
The 5% applies to credit card payments.
Other payment processing fees and usage fees are as follows.

For example, let's calculate if you sold 29,100 yen worth.
A 15% fee of 4,365 yen is deducted
The remainder is 24,735 yen
After deducting the 270 yen transfer fee, it's 24,465 yen
So you end up thinking, "I sold about 30,000 yen, but only got 24,000 yen..."
By the way, it looks like this when put into a graph.
📊 This is a comparison graph of sales and net proceeds.

The blue bars are the net proceeds, and the orange ones are the fees.
You can clearly see that the difference grows larger as sales increase.
How much do you actually keep?
To make it easier to understand, I simulated a few different amounts.
📋 Fee Simulation Table

Looking at it this way, the general idea is that you keep around 84% of your sales regardless of the amount.
In other words, if you sell 10,000 yen, only about 8,400 yen remains.
Some people might be a little shocked by that.
High? Low? Honestly, what's the deal?
This is the part everyone is curious about, right?
To give you the conclusion first,
"It feels high at first, but when you think about it, it's cheap."
Since one-sixth of your sales is taken away, it certainly looks high at a glance.
But note provides a payment system, customer management, security, a sales page, and credibility all in one package.
If you tried to implement a payment system yourself, it would cost several thousand to tens of thousands of yen in initial and monthly fees.
Considering that, note, where you only pay 15% when you make a sale, is actually quite reasonable I think.
What is the best way to use it?
This is the best way to use it in my opinion.
First, sell quickly on note to build a track record
Once you feel confident that it will sell, move to your own site or other sales services to increase your profit margin
In short, it's like 'placing a vending machine in a prime location in front of the station and paying rent'.
At first, that way it sells better and has more credibility.
But once your sales grow, it's more profitable to build a store on your own land and do business properly rather than just using a vending machine.
However, this method is for advanced users.
So, beginners can ignore it.
If you are interested, keep it in the back of your mind and give your all to note first.
Summary
I think many people honestly feel that note's fees are 'expensive!'
But considering the convenience of having everything included, it's like tuition fees in the beginning.
Therefore, it is overwhelmingly more profitable to 'pay the fees to sell quickly and build a track record' than to 'not do it because the fees are high'.
I was worried about it myself at first, but now I've accepted it as an 'initial investment'.
If you are currently hesitating about whether to sell on note, I recommend this👇
If you are a beginner who hasn't made even 1 yen in sales yet, please be sure to read it.
It will change your life.
I have changed.
That is all for today.
