🧠💪 Home strength training: "deliberately unstable" with 30kg in both hands
🏠 Today's theme
I tried introducing a stimulus I've never used before in my home strength training.
Instead of increasing the weight, I experimented with
increasing the load by disrupting stability.
🏋️♂️ Exercises performed this time
🔹 Standing shoulder press (both hands)
-
Weight:
Left hand 15kg
Right hand 15kg
Total 30kg
Reps: 10 reps
Posture: Standing
-
Features:
With every press movement, stand on one leg
At the same time, bend your knees slightly

📝 Exercise description (key points for this time)
Standard standing shoulder press is
→ performed with both feet stable-
This time, I deliberately👇
single-leg support
and a slight knee bend
to create an unstable state.created an unstable state
It's not about squatting as deep as a squat,
👉 I aimed for "the limit where my posture starts to sway."
😳 Impressions after actually trying it
The effect on the shoulders is a given,
but it also fully engages the core, glutes, and thighs.
Even though it's the same 30kg,
👉 the perceived load is definitely higher.
It feels like the difficulty of control has increased,
rather than the "weight" itself.
⚠️ Honest concerns
Dangerous if you lose your balance
Possibility of developing left-right imbalances
Form is prone to breaking down when fatigued
👉 Don't include it in every workout menu
🔍 Expected effects
✔ Improved core stability
✔ Stimulation for balance ability
✔ Activation of the nervous system
Rather than for muscle hypertrophy,
👉 it's an exercise to train "the ability to use your body well.".
🧠 Summary
15kg in each hand = 30kg
By adding unstable elements
👉 The load increases even with the same weightNot as a main exercise
👉 Effective as a stimulus/experimental slot
Home strength training can
still be improved with a little ingenuity💪
