There was a snake who dreamed of becoming a dragon.
He was a very ordinary snake, neither venomous nor harmful to people, but he had a stronger-than-average—or rather, stronger-than-snake—longing to be cool.

So, he thought about becoming a dragon, the kind that grants wishes when you collect seven orbs, becomes a final boss, or coils around a sword. There was no one to tell him that that was no longer a snake.

He went to a famous plastic surgeon. There, he begged the doctor to grow him wings, give him hands with claws, and attach a mouth that breathes fire and cool fangs.

To his surprise, the plastic surgeon's appointments were fully booked with snakes who had thought of the same thing. The snake complained loudly, ignoring his own situation, about why they hadn't had the surgery last year during the Year of the Dragon, but since he was the one who was late, he had no choice but to give up.

On his way home, he stopped by a bookstore and realized that Yamata no Orochi was based on a snake; he felt somewhat better and accepted himself just as he was.
