I watched Kenji Ozawa's streaming concert

The streaming concert held on the 24th was titled 'Chasing the Fox.' Although it was called a concert, it consisted only of storytelling and essay readings, with no musical performances (except for the ending, where the theme song for this concert was played on guitar and whistle). This is also a very typical approach for him. The familiar Bose from Scha Dara Parr also appeared as a guest, and there was a conversation between the two.

I cannot write the details of the storytelling, but there were many topics regarding Western culture, which he has been researching through fieldwork for some time, and comparisons with Japan.

There were moments during the talk where he wove in lyrics from his own songs, so I will summarize the songs that were specifically mentioned. First, 'Roller Skate Park'.

He mentioned the lyrics, 'Knowing every kind of word and then becoming unable to say anything, I won't make such a foolish mistake.' I recall the discussion being about whether to remain silent or to continue speaking out in today's society, where the more you know, the less you are able to say.

Next, the song 'Camera Full Of Kisses / All Words Are Goodbyes'.

He apparently wrote the lyrics, 'We understand only that we cannot understand each other,' when he was 21, and he says that even 30 years later, these words remain at his core.

Come to think of it, I remembered something I had written about this song before.

And then, 'About Fluidity'.

During the talk, Bose mentioned the part that goes, 'Will changes words, and words change the city.'

For someone like me who loves his books and essays, this streaming concert was a delight. There were some technical troubles, but that sense of a live event was also quite nice.

I hope he does another stream like this again. Of course, I also want to go to an actual live concert someday.
