How to Write Your First Dream Novel -Introduction-
First, let me introduce myself briefly.
I am a romance-obsessed writer who has been writing dream novels as fan fiction for over 10 years.
I started by writing short stories, and recently I have been writing longer ones as well.
I used to write quietly on my personal website, but inspired by the allure of 'thin books' known as doujinshi, I have published six dream novel books so far.
As for doujin events, I have participated as a circle member once at Winter Comiket in the past.
I enjoy the casual style of online events that I can participate in from home, so I currently participate as a circle member about twice a year.
Although I am an active dream novel writer, I don't have any outstanding talents like being exceptionally good at writing or being a fast writer, but I do pride myself on always being able to keep writing with joy.
Writing dream novels is truly fun.
I lose track of time and get absorbed in it, and the feeling of satisfaction when a good expression comes to mind is addictive.
Above all, and this is the most important part,it is pure happiness because I can keep thinking about my favorite character (my 'oshi') all the time.
Yes, in a dream novel, you can immerse yourself in a world that belongs only to you and your partner.
Of course, other characters will likely appear in the story as well.
However, the fundamental purpose of a dream novel is to have a dazzling dream experience with your partner.
In the process of imagining in your head and putting the story into words, you can always be thinking about your partner.
How will my partner act toward me (the dream protagonist) in this situation, what kind of words will they say, what kind of expressions will they show—being able to focus thoroughly on every move they make... isn't that just the best?
If you were in such a wonderful situation with your partner, or if a heart-throbbing development that could never happen in reality were to occur... in a dream novel, you can write as much as you want about the best story with your partner.
I got a little carried away.
But I think you've caught the vibe that 'this person seems to be having fun.'
Now, since you are reading this article, are you thinking about writing a dream novel from now on?
Or are you already writing one and feeling stuck on something?
For those who want to write a dream novel, I hope this note conveys even a little bit of the joy of writing and serves as a trigger to take that first step.
For those who are stuck while writing, I would be happy if this note provides some kind of stimulation (I also often struggle with writing, so let's do our best together).
If neither applies to you, please feel free to use this to kill some time.
I will be compiling this 'How to Write Your First Dream Novel' series into a magazine.
If you think you would like to read future articles as well, I think it will be easier to follow updates if you follow the magazine below.
Lastly.
Even though I have been writing for quite a few years, I am still learning in real-time, such as by learning writing styles from other people's dream novels or searching for words I encounter for the first time.
Since it is written by someone like me, other dream novel writers might read it and think, 'There are other ways to do it.'
I hope you will read this with the understanding that these are merely my personal insights.
