Picking Up a Writer (A 400-Character Sketch)
I picked up a small writer. I looked up how to keep one, and when I gave it a secondhand typewriter, it happily began to live there.
"Writers may write hundreds of works in their lifetime, which can be read for thousands of years. However, most writers disappear suddenly one day without having written a single work."
I watched the ecology of the small writer while reading such an explanation. It would worry, or crumple up blank manuscripts.
I tried participating in a gathering of small writer enthusiasts. They would climb onto the typewriters together and read each other's manuscripts. However, when they dispersed and were alone, they looked much lonelier than before they had gathered. Since then, I have not participated in any gatherings.
"It's okay if you can't write anything, just don't suddenly disappear."
The small writer nodded while scratching and biting at my fingernails.
Even so, just like many other small writers, it disappeared. The manuscript left behind had only one word written on it: "The End."
"It didn't even begin!"
Since then, even if I find a small writer, I don't bring it home.
