Reminiscence: A Man Who Experienced Both Glory and Humiliation and Knows Everything About His 14 Years with the Dragons | 2025 Baseball Bookstore Awards Runner-up
Shigekazu Mori has published three books so far, but all of them are based on stories from the "Chunichi Golden Age" when he served as a coach under manager Hiromitsu Ochiai.
There has been no book that talks about the "Chunichi Dark Age" (which still continues today) from the era of player-manager Motonobu Tanishige in 2014, through his own time as manager, to his time as senior director.
That is precisely why I wanted Mr. Mori to talk about the time "after manager Ochiai." I wanted him to provide the answers to what happened back then.
If such a book existed, I would buy it without hesitation, but no one was trying to make one. So, I pitched the project to a publisher and produced this book by taking charge of the composition myself.
That's right. It is a book I planned and composed.
I believe many Chunichi fans must have been satisfied with it, so I chose it as a runner-up (sorry about that).

Reading it again, I feel Mr. Mori's immense trust in Hitoki Iwase and a bond that transcends the relationship between player and coach. Also, it seeps through the lines that the 14 years Mr. Mori was involved with Chunichi were, for better or worse, 14 years of being pushed around by owner Shirai. Yet, that owner Shirai is also human and hard to hate.
