My Favorite Albums Part 765 [Thrash Metal/Deathrash Edition]

RITUAL CARNAGE/THE HIGHEST LAW

This is the 1998 debut album by RITUAL CARNAGE, led by American vocalist Damian "Danny Carnage" Montgomery (his background is quite something; he served in the U.S. Air Force at Yokota Air Base, was a guitarist for "SIC" for a time, and later joined "SCRAP TAMBOURINE" as well).

As some of you may know, one of the guitarists in this band is Eddie, formerly of "X (JAPAN)". (He participated in "BREAK THE DARKNESS" which was included on "HEAVY METAL FORCE III".)

Actually, none of that really matters... this album is an awesome piece of thrash/deathrash.

The Bay Area-style, heavily chugging guitar riffs combined with a rock-solid rhythm section, topped off with Damian's relentless, thick vocals, is just irresistible.

While the vocal style has a slight touch of death metal, the songs, arrangements, and sound are undoubtedly of a very high purity, reminiscent of when thrash was at its most energetic as thrash.

I recommend this to fans of 80s-90s thrash, including the cover art (lol).

By the way, a cover of ONSLAUGHT's "DEATH METAL" is also included at the end.

If anyone has listened to this because of this post, or has heard it before, I would be very encouraged and happy if you could leave your thoughts in the comments section, so please do.

If the words hardcore, metal, loud music, extreme, maniacal, heavy, noisy, or indie ring a bell, please take a look at my previous posts as well. (Though there are some that don't fit those categories)

I have categorized them to some extent in my "My Albums" magazine posted on note, so please take a look at that as well if you are interested.

You might just encounter a band or a sound you didn't know before.
