We are holding a "Demo Reel Filming Workshop for Actors" on Saturday, 11/12.
Following the great success of our workshops in June and August, we are now accepting applications for the third "Demo Reel Filming Workshop for Actors" to be held in November.
In recent years, as in-person auditions for actors have decreased, the importance of demo reels and self-tapes has increased. Many auditions have shifted their stance from "let's meet as many people as possible" to "let's only meet those who catch our eye," which means that actors who can showcase their acting through a demo reel at the initial application stage now have an advantage in the audition process.
It is important for a demo reel to "convey an actor's appeal in a short amount of time."
In this "Demo Reel Filming Workshop," we will spend seven hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM covering "classroom lectures on how to approach demo reels and auditions," "filming self-introductions," and "filming a one-scene performance using an original script."
We will then edit the footage and deliver a finished demo reel of just under two minutes one week later. From there, you are free to use it for auditions and other purposes.
The script, direction, and editing will be handled by me, Debi Kobayashi, and the filming will be done by a professional cameraman.
Seeing is believing. Let's take a look at the demo reels filmed in June and August.
What do you think? If you were a judge, wouldn't you want to meet them at least once?☆
In this way, I will direct and create a demo reel for each person that condenses the actor's appeal into a short amount of time.
In fact, I have received reports that several actors who filmed their demo reels in June and August have landed main cast roles in drama auditions. I'm super happy about that!
Audition judges are usually extremely busy, so the reality is that they can only watch a demo reel for a short time, about 30 seconds to 2 minutes per person. Therefore, it is not enough to just vaguely show scenes you have appeared in; you need to condense your individuality and appeal into that short time.
That is why in this "Demo Reel Filming Workshop for Actors," we will focus on"conveying the actor's appeal and individuality in around one minute."Actors, why not join us?

And for those who participated in the June and August demo reel filming workshops, we have prepared arepeater discount. We plan to film scripts with a completely different atmosphere and genre than those filmed in June and August, so if you edit the video from last time together with the video from this time,
you can complete a demo reel that conveys the actor's appeal from multiple perspectives!...It's a De Agostini-style project (lol). Those who participated last time, please join us again.

Measures against power harassment and sexual harassment. Measures against COVID-19 infection.
The following are the sexual harassment and power harassment measures to ensure the workshop proceeds happily and smoothly.
① We will not use scripts that contain sexual content.
② We will not have actors perform scenes where they make physical contact with each other.
③ We will have female staff at the venue so that you can consult with them at any time.
④ If the participating actor's manager wishes, they may observe the workshop.
⑤ We promise that the organizers will not use the participants' personal information for private purposes.
And as for COVID-19 infection measures, we will thoroughly implement the following three points again.
① Masks must be worn during classroom lectures. Masks are removed during filming, but mouth shields must be worn during other acting sessions.
② We will provide frequent breaks for ventilation.
③ We will keep the number of participants small.
Let's make this a time of learning where everyone can participate with peace of mind, have fun, and gain meaningful experience.

Recently, there are many times when actors have to film self-tapes at home by themselves using their smartphones, which is tough, isn't it?
I hope this workshop will be a "place of learning" where you not only film a demo reel, but also acquire the knowledge and skills for when you need to film self-tapes or other materials on your own in a hurry.
Well then, actors, I look forward to your applications.
