Why the Developmental Disability Fairy 'Yorimichi' Draws: Yorimichi's Heart Pictures
I am Yorimichi, a fairy in a costume who draws pictures.
Today, I would like to share why I draw,
and the charm of drawing pictures.
My Encounter with Developmental Disabilities and Drawing
Ever since I was a child,
my heart would dance whenever I held a pen or crayon.
For me, having the characteristics of a developmental disability,
drawing was a precious time when I could immerse myself in my own world.
As I freely drew lines and layered colors on the backs of flyers or in my study notebooks, my own unique world began to expand.
The joy I felt when a picture was finished was like finding a shooting star,
something irreplaceable.
Depression, Parting with Drawing, and Reunion
However, I stopped going to school in junior high,
and after that,
at the age of 21,
I experienced depression,
so my life was by no means smooth.
When I stood at the edge of despair,
I decided that I would never draw again,
and in the spring of my 22nd year,
I sold the Mac I owned.
However, deep in my heart, I had not been able to give up on drawing.
Then,
a few years later,
when I lost my father and was about to lose the hope to live,
I was receiving public assistance and trying desperately to survive.
During that time, I had the opportunity to study to become a career consultant.
As I learned Savickas's career interview method,
graphed my life events in chronological order,
and created a visualized life chart,
I realized something.
'My drawings are pictures of my heart.'
Drawing is, for me, a place of emotional refuge and
the entirety of my joy in living.
The Meaning of Drawing
Why do people draw?
It may be from a desire to express oneself,
to convey something to someone,
or simply to visualize one's state of mind.
There are various benefits to drawing.
Knowing yourself: By drawing, you can discover what lies deep within your heart.
Feeling a connection to the world: By drawing, you can feel a connection to nature, people, and society.
Easier to generate ideas: Drawing stimulates creativity and leads to generating new ideas.
Healing of the heart: Drawing has the effect of reducing stress and healing the heart.
As the Drawing Fairy 'Yorimichi'
I decided to draw again,
and began my activities as 'Yorimichi'.
Art exhibitions, selling calendars,
and
I published the Kindle picture book 'Yoru no Sanpomichi'.
I present my work in various forms.
For me, drawing pictures
has become a bridge to connect with many people.
Why don't you try drawing a picture, too?
Drawing pictures
does not require any special talent.
What is important is to express yourself freely.
Just like when you were a child, with that excited, pure heart,
why not try drawing a picture?
A wonderful work that is uniquely yours is sure to be born.
Don't know how to draw?
I intend to prepare articles and videos for that purpose
in the membership area, "Yorimichi's Map."
Finally...
Drawing pictures is
an important means for Yorimichi to re-examine myself,
connect with the world, and find healing for my heart.
If you have become interested in drawing,
why not join me in making a map?
