Determining the Scope of Sales Part 4 (First Half)
The product image I showed in yesterday's article was a tricky one 😵
(I wanted to avoid asking a nearby clerk and getting a vague response or treatment, and I sensed a strange kind of embarrassment 💦) So, I made up my mind, actually bought it, and got the [answer] ✌
If you haven't read it yet, please check this out first 🙋
I'll repost the "questionable" image 📷
How much is the selling price of this?

If you tend to overlook this thinking, "What's weird about this?" (always in a rush), please dig through about 10 of my notes to sharpen your [sense of discomfort] and [ability to notice things] 💪 It's a waste otherwise 🥴

The answer was 20 yen 👛
You can see the "half price" label, butas if to cover it up or hide it, clearly "on top of it", a "41 yen including tax" sticker is placed, so
◆ It's just a number, so it must be 41 yen
is the dominant interpretation 👑 (the majority view).
Interpretations such as "thinking logically" or "which one was placed on last" are by no means incorrect.
On the other hand, (regardless of the relationship between the top and bottom labels,) since the price and the 'half-price' label coexist, so
◆ Make this 41 yen half-price
is also a natural way to perceive it. It makes sense.

The [lesson] to be learned from this subject is simple, isn't it? ☝
Situations (or formats) that can be interpreted in multiple ways must be eliminated 🚫
Most of us are on the [buying side], but this serves as a cautionary tale that the selling side cannot be said to have taken sufficient "obvious" care to avoid complaints or confusion from customers.cannot be said to have taken sufficient "obvious" care to avoid complaints or confusion from customers, is a cautionary tale.
As a result, it was 20 yen, but
"I'd buy it for 20 yen, but I don't want it for 41 yen"
means they are missing out on customers who would say
that as well.
It would be a waste of a thought exercise to just dismiss it as a matter of "whether it's hard to understand or not!"
And one more thing.
The "half-price sticker" style in question is not designed with an additional barcode for the discounted price 🙅
※ Example of misreading - Check this article✅
In other words, that means
it also depends on the cashier's discretion.
That is what it comes down to.
◆ The person who applied the sticker, as a result, used a sloppy method with "weak consideration for spatial relationships," but had the intention of [20 yen].
◆ A cashier with a different [subjective view] (like the majority of you, as I have shown from the beginning of this article) rings it up as [41 yen], canceling out the half-price sticker.
This kind of discrepancy within the storecan occur.
This is a more serious and completely different angle of concern than the so-called "misunderstanding-prone" problem where "customers make various interpretations based on their own subjectivity."
Since I always look at things from an oblique angle, I feel that this (the fact that even though everyone had a unified view that it was "20 yen," only the cashier might deviate or make a wild pitch) is actually more significant. 😞

Oh my, it has become long because I wrote it carefully. 😂
If you only trace the surface of phenomena and things, you cannot notice the spread of concerns or secondary problems, was the story. 📖
And, related matters and associative thinking continue.
As mentioned in the previous article
Also, please come up with ideas for what actions to take to overcome that [non-identity/multiple interpretability] and obtain the correct price! 💡
In other words, when you pick up this product in the store, what are the tips for purchasing with peace of mind? Please shift your focus and pivot to that, and expand your thinking a little more. It's not like "ask the clerk to get confirmation before buying" ~ and then watch the cashier's behavior with the promise in your heart. 👀 Or anything like that. ☝🤣
Focusing on that point, I will continue to 《Part 2》 one day later and present another related topic.🙇
