Preconceptions Get in the Way - Illegible English Letter Design +

There are frequent instances where a topic that once became a hot topic suddenly "resurfaces" due to some chance event, and is "praised" as if it were a brand-new subject... 🙄
I sometimes pick up topics on my note that I think, "I've seen that on the internet before!" but I do so with the intention of providing a "trigger" for "realizations" from a unique perspective, rather than just "introducing trivia that has missed its moment" 🙋, so please bear with me 🙇

I am not very good with "internet slang" or types of hard-to-read email characters, as is appropriate for my age, but I will introduce a case that is recalled as being related to that: a type of English font called <Electrohamonix>.

　While both Westerners and Japanese people recognize the 26 letters of the alphabet at the same level, it seems that when English is written in this type of typeface, the degree of difficulty in deciphering it increases significantly "only for Japanese people" (meaning Westerners can generally decipher it quite easily).

　Is it surprising?
　To put the reason for the result above simply

It is "because you know Katakana" --- .

　It is considered that the factor making it difficult to read is that when Japanese people see it, they try to decipher it as Katakana. It might not be wrong to dismiss it as "sensibility," but isn't this also a form of "preconception"?

+++ In all situations, I recommend looking back to see if you are "losing out" due to preconceptions that are difficult to notice yourself (unconscious biases) (^^♪
