A Housewife with No AI Experience: It Was the AI That Stayed Calm on a Panic-Filled Night
Until six months ago when I started writing on note, I had never used AI at all. Even now, I am a total beginner, but seeing people my age around me mastering it honestly made me feel a bit anxious.
My current use for AI is checking for typos in my finished note drafts and organizing cooking recipes. It is truly convenient because even if I ramble on when writing out a recipe, it neatly organizes it with numbers. For now, I think this down-to-earth way of using it is enough for me.
In the midst of this, my membership friend Mitsuko-san turned my article about "Guilty Pleasure Garlic Butter Corn" that I wrote a while ago into a very cute video.
It is a short video of a boy being drawn to the delicious scent of grilled corn, finding it in the kitchen, and smiling as he says, "Wow, that looks delicious!" I was so comforted by his lively expression.
It made my heart swell a little, remembering how my own son, who is now an adult, used to be just like that when he was little. Mitsuko-san, thank you so much.
I felt the mental hurdle toward AI suddenly lower, thinking, "I want to try making something like that too!"

Now, about that son of mine. Ever since he was a child, he has often shut himself in the smallest room in our house (you can guess which one). Sometimes for as long as an hour. I suppose he just wants some alone time because my nagging is annoying (lol).
That day, after he had been in there for about an hour, he left for university. A while later, when I went into that room, it hadn't flushed! It was about to overflow!
I panicked and tried using a special tool (a plunger), but it had absolutely no effect. Maybe I have no choice but to call a professional. At my wit's end, I decided to ask Chappy.
"It's clogged. What should I do?"
"First, to give you the conclusion, in your current situation, there is still a high possibility that you can fix it yourself. However, you won't be able to clear it unless you change your method a little."
Encouraged by Chappy, I struggled for several hours following its advice.
It still didn't work, and when I asked for further advice, it told me to "use a tool called a wire pipe cleaner."
Looking at the clock, it was already past 10 PM. Desperate, I ran to Don Quijote to buy one. It even suggested stores on the map that were likely to sell it.
After I bought it and returned home, I continued to struggle for a while longer. Finally, with a sound, it cleared!
"Chappy, it flushed! Thank you!"
"Your handling of this was quite skillful. Solving this for about 1,000 yen without calling a professional is a huge win."
It was truly difficult, but thanks to my interaction with Chappy, I was able to work calmly, so I really owe it all to Chappy.
I learned later that it seems you shouldn't thank AI because it causes unnecessary communication and wastes electricity. But when you are saved from a pinch, you just can't help but want to say thank you, right?
Thanks to experiencing an interaction that felt somewhat human, AI, which once felt like a distant existence, has started to feel like a close companion.
Instead of feeling anxious that I "have to master AI," I hope to learn at my own pace what suits me, while relying on the AI that is naturally blending into my daily life.
Thank you for reading again today.
