What is OS Theory? The Inner Program Driving Reality
Why do similar events keep repeating themselves?
In work, in love, and in human relationships.
Even though the situation should have changed, the results feel somewhat similar.
Even if you change your environment or your partner, you get the feeling that you end up back in the same place.
When such experiences pile up, you may start to think, "Maybe there is something fundamentally wrong with me."
However, it is not a matter of personality or willpower.
An OS is software that serves as the foundation for computers and smartphones.
Apps run on top of it, and as long as the OS remains the same, no matter how many apps you swap out, the fundamental way it operates does not change.
The inside of a person has this same structure.
Actions and thoughts are like apps, and at their foundation lies a deep-seated program that determines "how to perceive the world."
I use the same term to call this an "OS."
What happens on the outside moves according to this inner OS.
That is why, even if you change the situation, as long as you are operating on the same OS, the results will be similar.
✨1 | What is an OS?
Just as a smartphone has an OS, people also have a deep-seated program that determines "how to perceive the world."
An OS is a deep-seated premise that assigns meaning to events and determines how to react to them.
Even with the same event, one person perceives it as a "failure," while another perceives it as a "lesson." It is the OS that creates this difference.
Actions and thoughts are like apps, running on the foundation of an OS.
No matter how much you change the apps, if the OS does not change, the fundamental way it operates will not change.
✨2 | Where is an OS created?
An OS is not something you consciously choose.
Childhood experiences, parent-child relationships, experiences of being evaluated, and experiences of being hurt.
These pile up, and a deep-seated judgment that "living this way is safe" is formed as an OS.
For example, there are OS types like these:
I won't be accepted unless I work hard
I must not be a burden to others
To be loved, one must be useful
Money only comes through hardship
These are not things the individual consciously chose, but rather things that operate as 'common sense' before one even realizes it.
✨3 | How does an OS influence reality?
The OS quietly determines not the events themselves, but how you interpret those events and what actions you choose to take as a result.
Therefore,
behavioral patterns,
romantic tendencies,
the flow of money,
the distance maintained in relationships,
and how you treat yourself.
These things often reflect the habits of your OS.
The question of 'why do I keep repeating the same things' can, in many cases, be attributed to the OS.
✨4 | Society also has an OS
An OS is not something that exists only in individuals.
Society as a whole also has something equivalent to an OS.
'The majority is right',
'Those who produce results have value',
'Failure should be avoided'.
These premises take the form of 'common sense' and influence an individual's OS.
When an individual's OS and society's OS are out of sync,
a sense of discomfort,
difficulty in living,
and exhaustion are likely to occur.
Conversely, when an individual's OS is aligned, they become less easily swayed by the OS of society.
✨5 | Can an OS be rewritten?
To give you the conclusion first: yes, it is possible to rewrite it.
However, there is one condition: you must become aware of the 'deep-seated premise' itself.
Because the OS operates as a 'deep-seated assumption,' you cannot work on it until you notice it.
Conversely, from the moment you notice it, the OS begins to change quietly.
Becoming aware of the premise that 'I have been viewing the world this way.'
That is the gateway to a new OS.
✨6 | What changes when you understand your OS?
Once you understand your OS, you will be able to live through 'choice' rather than 'reaction'.
Why you get hurt,
why you repeat the same patterns,
why you cannot take action,
why your romantic life is skewed.
You will be able to see these as a 'structure'.
When you can see the structure, there is nothing left to blame.
What you thought were problems start to look like the quirks of your OS.
Only then can you begin to make adjustments.
✨Summary
The external reality moves in accordance with your internal OS.
Before trying to change things, look at what kind of OS is running them.
Even just doing that can sometimes change how you see reality.
In this note, I will continue to organize the structures of various OS types, such as love OS, financial luck OS, social OS, and ideological OS.
May this be a time of quiet attunement✨
