On a Morning When the Voices Telling Us the 'Right Answer' Are Too Loud
Good morning.
On a Tuesday morning, if you open social media, you'll see 'forms of happiness' or 'conversational techniques' defined by someone else, flowing by as if they were the only correct answers.
'Behave properly,' 'Be successful,' 'Say the right thing.'
You are not the only one who is tired of that external noise and feels like they are losing sight of their own center.
Actually, I went to the hospital yesterday.
But at the reception, they told me, 'Your appointment is next week.' I had gotten the week wrong.
In that moment, I felt so embarrassed and pathetic for not being perfect. But when I left the hospital and breathed in the outside air, I suddenly thought:
Even though I intend to live desperately seeking the 'right answer,' my world doesn't end because of such a small mistake. In fact, isn't my imperfect self more lovable?
We don't really want techniques (right answers) to be liked by others.
We just want to stand there, holding the contradictions and imperfections that have accumulated like sediment within us, just as they are.
Why not take off that heavy armor of 'perfection' for a moment and brew a cup of coffee just for yourself?
May you, today, remain untainted by anyone else's 'right answer' and stay within your own 'calm.'
