[Poem] Tracing Picture
What should I have
for lunch today?
Shall we have
somen noodles for lunch today?
To my beloved
I am asking
this
simple
moment
is a reflection
of the peace
they wished for
in days long past,
I
must engrave upon my heart.
On the day the war ended
[Strawberry Letter💌]
Today is the day the war ended.
August 15, 1945,
at noon.
On that day,
the broadcast of the Emperor's voice was played.
"Enduring the unendurable,
suffering what is insufferable,
for the sake of all ages to come,
to pave the way for a grand peace."
When I think of the wish for peace
contained within those words,
Right now,
with my loved one,
"What shall we have for lunch today?"
being able to talk about such things feels incredibly precious.
"Shall we have somen noodles?"
Even such
casual conversation,
might be a scene of daily life
that people who once wished for peace
had envisioned.
I wrote this
while savoring that thought.
Thank you for reading
again today.
Well then,
until
tomorrow night
I shall see you.
