① Anthropic — Official Launch of Claude for Legal
Released 12 plugins for legal practice (covering commercial, corporate, employment, privacy, product, regulatory, AI governance, IP, litigation, etc.) and over 20 MCP connectors. It operates within Microsoft Word / Outlook and connects directly to existing legal tech such as Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis, iManage, Everlaw, and DocuSign.
Freshfields, Quinn Emanuel, Holland & Knight, and Crosby Legal have adopted it early, with Freshfields already using it in daily operations for 5,700 internal users.
Since case law databases are primarily focused on Anglo-American law, in Japan, it can be put into practical use for English contract review, overseas transactions, and international regulatory compliance. Japanese case law review is trending toward being built by individual firms using custom playbook features. This is a major turning point for legal departments, contract managers, and international law firms.
② OpenAI — Launch of "Deployment Company" with approximately $4 billion
OpenAI has established a new company specializing in corporate AI implementation, with an initial investment of approximately $4 billion and a coalition of 19 partners. TPG is leading the investment, with Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield as co-leads, and Goldman Sachs, SoftBank, and Warburg Pincus also participating. Consulting and SI firms such as Bain & Company, McKinsey, and Capgemini are also involved.
