The Mental Space I Learned from My Exploding Eldest Son
My son just won't get up.
I want to at least try to fix his already chaotic lifestyle.
He says he wants to eat McDonald's for the first time in a while.
But he has no intention of going out.
It seems he wants to stay home when he's off.
I get it, but...
My words that someone has to go out to get McDonald's don't seem to reach him.
One way or another, I managed to get McDonald's takeout.
I want him to eat it while it's as warm as possible.
On top of that, my desire for him to wake up early just spilled over.
By the time my husband and I had called out to him about four times, saying, 'Come on, wake up,'...
My son, feeling irritated and a bit rough, blurted out:
'I know! I'll wake up at my own pace!'
I was taken aback.
By the phrase 'at my own pace'.
Living while constantly adjusting to others is exhausting.
Even within a family, that's true.
Sometimes we get pushed around by the parents' convenience.
My son already has many strong characteristics.
I imagine he must be tired every day.
I was the same way, so maybe that's it...
While I think that waiting is also important,
I set aside my own issues,
and as a parent, I still end up feeling anxious and impatient.
