A comment that made me feel my son's growth

My son, who had been active from early morning until late at night, said this the moment he got home.

"I don't want to be in the cheering squad anymore. I want to quit."

So it's come to this...
The club he belongs to.
He seemed to enjoy it at first, but...
It seems various dissatisfactions are emerging.
Before, he seemed fed up with the interpersonal dynamics of the upperclassmen, but...
Since he leaves early and comes home late every day... it seems the fatigue is piling up too.

When I asked him about the situation,
it seems he's not getting along with his own grade level right now,
and apparently there was something he just couldn't put up with.
On the way home, while grabbing snacks at a convenience store with a friend,
they apparently vented to each other.

My son doesn't like to talk much.
I said, "It's an organized group, so things happen, right..." while...
Just as my husband said, "It might be an option to talk to an upperclassman or the faculty advisor..." my son said one thing.

"It's an issue within our own grade, so we want to handle it ourselves."

I was surprised.
To think he could say something like this.
Amazing.
He's grown so much.
Before, he would only ever say, "It's a hassle."

I couldn't help but blurt out, "Wow, you're amazing. Mom is so moved."

Well then.
I wonder what will happen from here on out...
